Project Rainbow: The Sony Foundation and Harvey Norman target youth depression

beyondblue targets youth depression with $500,000 fundraiser
 
12 September 2005 marked the start of Project Rainbow, a fundraiser which raised $500,000 for beyondblue to develop an interactive, internet-based early intervention program to assist young people get appropriate help for depression quickly.

Depression amongst young people is a major issue. One in five young people are likely to be affected. Of those, 60 per cent will not seek professional help

beyondblue's key aims are to raise awareness of depression, reduce the stigma associated with the illness and encourage people to seek help.

Project Rainbow is an initiative of the Sony Foundation Australia and Harvey Norman, Domayne and Joyce Mayne stores nation wide. Funds were raised through the sale of Sony products donated by the Sony Foundation and through gold coin donation boxes in-store.

Free beyondblue depression information materials were also available in stores.
