Clinical Practice Guidelines

The public consultations for the two beyondblue Clinical Practice Guidelines is now closed.

The DRAFT Clinical Practice Guidelines on:

Depression in Adolescents and Young Adults;

and

Depression and related disorders - anxiety, bipolar disorder and puerperal psychosis - in the perinatal period

are for information only.

beyondblue would like to thank everyone who participated in the consultations by attending one of the national workshops and/or providing comments on the Draft Guidelines.

The two expert working committees responsible for the development of the Clinical Practice Guidelines, will be meeting in June to consider all comments received and to make the required revisions to the Guidelines.

It committees will be working hard to ensure that the Guidelines will be finalised for submission to the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) at the meeting to be held in late 2010. The CEO of the NHMRC and the NHMRC Council will considered the approval of the Guidelines for release.

Once approved beyondblue will disseminate the final Guidelines.

In 2009 and 2010 beyondblue: the national depression initiative funded and led the development of two sets of Clinical Practice Guidelines.

These draft guideline documents draw on the latest research evidence about the best way to identify, treat and manage depression, anxiety and related disorders.

The DRAFT Clinical Practice Guidelines were compiled by expert advisory groups, drawing upon the best available evidence. These groups include some of Australia's leading mental health experts, as well as people who have experienced mental health problems and their carers.
