Got difficulties? Get Over It...

'The past can be a prison which traps us in the illusion that life is hard, that we are meant to suffer and that our fate is out of our hands. One day I decided that this was an extra burden that I could live without.'

Bev Aisbett, acclaimed author of Living with IT, Taming the Black Dog and Letting IT Go once again delivers the straight-talking, compassionate advice that has helped tens of thousands of people move past trauma and into hope.

Get Over IT is the perfect resource to help you feel more grounded in your ability to face the difficulties in your life.

'Get Over It' which was released in June, adds to further essential resources to those already provided by Bev's impressive portfolio of achievements in assisting those with anxiety and depression. With sales of her previous popular self help texts enjoying readership by thousands within Australia and overseas (including versions in four foreign languages) and through her lectures and "WORKING IT OUT" recovery program, Bev's work has proven to be a crucial link in the recovery process for those seeking help.

Having had first-hand experience of severe anxiety and depression, Bev's subsequent and mainly self-steered recovery led to her passing on her unique techniques to the many who suffer from anxiety, depression and OCD. By personifying her fears and anxiety into a cartoon character- "IT", Bev was able to assist readers of her books to gain a new and healthier perspective on their anxiety, with the added bonus of gentle and disarming humour. A trained counsellor, Bev has honed her skills in many modalities through ongoing research and training and is a highly perceptive and intuitive teacher.

Bev's continued association and assistance to ADAVIC has been invaluable. She regularly hosts lectures, workshops and programs, as well as providing anxiety sufferers with her books. Bev's popularity ensures that her lectures are always well-received, and her publications along with her workshops have steadily gained recognition from doctors, psychologists and government rehabilitation services as being highly effective in terms of the recovery process. Bev has used her personal experience as a means of empowering thousands of people suffering from anxiety and depression. Her down to earth, practical and empathetic approach is refreshingly direct and has reached many who had previously given up hope.

Bev's reassuring and common sense approach to problem solving, self-awareness and empowerment has led graduates of her workshop to consistently report at least a 70% reduction in their anxiety levels and a far more relaxed attitude to life in general, through the adoption and application of Bev's techniques.

Description:

The Anxiety Disorders Association of Victoria Presents
Don't Panic: You Can Overcome Anxiety Without Drugs

A Lecture with Dr. Sallee McLaren
Clinical psychologist and author

This lecture will discuss Dr. Sallee McLaren's book and offer a practical alternative to medication:
• Panic attacks, phobias, extreme shyness, and general anxiety disrupt the lives of an estimated 15 percent of the population.
• Typically, these kinds of problems are diagnosed, often without evidence, as being caused by a biochemical imbalance that requires rebalancing through medication. The result, very often, is an endless psychiatric revolving-door syndrome.
• Understanding what anxiety is and how it is caused offers alternatives to medication.
• This lecture will explore this book and offer proven ways for individuals to change their lives for the better - permanently and without drugs.

Dr Sallee McLaren is a doctor of clinical psychology. She has worked in private practice for many years, helping hundreds of her patients recover completely from anxiety and many related forms of emotional distress, all without medication. She is the consulting psychologist for the Anxiety Disorders Association of Victoria (ADAVIC) in Australia, and comments frequently in the media on ways to recover from distress.

Time:4pm Friday-3pm Sunday

Open Ground Men's Gatherings are annual events recognised internationally for providing life-changing opportunities and developing a strong community of men. Open Ground allows men from a wide range of backgrounds to connect and forge new friendships and to develop as a man through a series of high quality workshops and activities over the course of the weekend.

Open Ground gatherings are open to all men from any background, religious, political or sexual persuasion. We encourage freedom for men be real with themselves and other men.

The gatherings offer a safe, non-judgemental, supportive space where men can explore the connections, modalities, challenges and exercises that facilitate real and lasting change.

Men attend aged from 18 to 80+ from all walks of life, careers and social backgrounds. We find there is no 'typical' gathering attendee. What we do find is the men who attend are usually seeking a better way to discover themselves and a better way to live their lives.
