Grampians

beyondblue visited Ballarat and Ararat in the Grampians Medicare Local region in late 2013 as a trial site for its National Roadshow.

The Youthbeyondblue team hosted an activity hub at B’RAT FEST Street Party on 22 November, 2013. The street party was thrown by headspace Ballarat to celebrate young people and the arrival of headspace in Ballarat. The centres provide support, information and advice to young people aged 12 to 25. Giant Jenga proved a drawcard at the event, helping to keep party-goers warm in the cool conditions.

The following week, on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 November, beyondblue set up in Barkly Street, Ararat for a drop-in chat ‘n check with the general public. The Grampians Medicare Local mental health services team helped field questions from the community and distribute resources and information.

In April 2015, the big blue bus returned to the region and visited Horsham on 29 April. The team set up in Roberts Avenue for a free barbecue breakfast cooked up by the Lions Club of Horsham, before moving to Horsham Plaza for the lunch period. Staff from Wimmera Uniting Care and Grampians Community Health supported the events.

On Wednesday 27 May, the big blue bus set up in Ballarat's Bridge Mall to chat to shoppers and passersby about mental health and staying well.

Thanks to all those who gave beyondblue such a warm welcome. Thanks also to Medibank Community Fund for their support.
