The Beyond Blue National Roadshow visited Rockingham, Pinjarra, Mandurah and Kwinana in early May 2014.
A visit to Murdoch University was first on the itinerary, with the bus setting up at the Rockingham campus to chat with students and staff about the importance of maintaining good mental health and early help seeking.
That afternoon (1 May), the Roadshow stopped by Rockingham Shopping Centre for a chat ‘n check. Beyond Blue and Perth South Coastal Medicare Local staff provided information about depression and anxiety to shoppers and details of local services available.
The next day, the bus visited the Medicare Local office in Pinjarra to chat to staff and also the public.
Mandurah Forum shopping centre was the next stop. On Saturday 3 May, shoppers were encouraged to fill out a mental health pledge outlining what steps they would take to maintain or improve their mental health over the next year. The pledges will be posted back to them in 12 months’ time.
On Monday 5 May the bus visited Kwinana, setting up in Chisham Square to provide free information about depression, anxiety and how to stay well.
Thanks to the wonderful communities who gave Beyond Blue such a warm welcome! Thanks also to Medibank Community Fund for their support.
