Beyond Blue is looking for a blueVoices member who has a personal experience of attempting suicide to join the Governance Group committee of the Way Back Support Service ACT.
The role of the blueVoices representative is to provide insight and knowledge based on having a personal experience as a user of hospital or community mental health services following a suicide attempt. The blueVoices representative will attend quarterly meetings and participate alongside other group members in the function and decision making of the group.
The blueVoices representative will be reimbursed for their time attending meetings by service partner Woden Community Service in accordance with relevant policy.
The Way Back Support Service (the ‘Service’) (WBSS) is a new, innovative suicide prevention service. It has been developed to save the lives of one of the population groups most at-risk of suicide – those people who have attempted suicide. The highest risk period to die by suicide is in the first three months after an attempt, and in particular the first day, week and month after discharge from care. The Service provides an essential service during this critical time.
The Service delivers person-centred, non-clinical care and practical support after a suicide attempt. Support Coordinators link people into existing health, clinical and community-based services, to ensure that people are safe and accessing the community-based support that is available.
The purpose of the Way Back Support Service Governance Group is to provide advice and direction to the Project Operations Team in relation to overseeing the effective delivery of the project in accordance with the Service Agreement.
