Are you aged 15-30 years and are interested in being part of a short Beyond Blue video that encourages young people to check-in with each other during a stressful time?
The end of school year period can bring a lot of pressure and stress for young people.
To help young people support each other, Beyond Blue has created The Check-in App to help people plan a conversation with someone they may be concerned about.
Beyond Blue is creating a short (1 minute) video featuring young people sharing their stories about checking in with others to promote the app.
The video will be promoted across Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram during November 2017 and look similar to Youth Beyond Blue's Getting Help video series.
We’re currently seeking blueVoices members to share their stories on camera (or provide a voice over) about a time when either:
- you checked in on someone - we’re seeking people aged 15-30 years
- someone checked in with you - we’re seeking people aged 15-20 years
We are not asking for people to share difficult, challenging or highly emotional experiences, just simply to share your memory of how the conversation went.
People taking part in the video will be asked to talk about either:
- when someone checked in with you (e.g. what did they say and how did it make you feel?)
- when you checked in with another young person (what made you decide to check in with them & how did it go?)
Filming will take place in Melbourne on either Thursday 05 or Friday 06 October.
If you are selected to take part in filming and live outside of Melbourne Beyond Blue will arrange travel for you (and a parent/guardian if you are under 18).
Although you will not be asked to talk in detail about an experience of mental health issues in the video, we still encourage you to give some thought whether being part of a video (which will be shared nationally on social media) is right for you at this time.
Who we are looking for
As this is a youth check in app we’re looking for young people to share their story. We’re currently seeking anyone under 30 who has checked in with a young person; or a young person who has been check in on (aged 15-20 years).
For this activity, a young person is anyone aged between 15 – 20 years old.
If you know someone who may be suitable for this activity, please forward them the following link - https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-involved/bluevoices/be-part-of-our-video-helping-young-people-through-exam-stress.
If the person sharing their story is aged under 18, consent from a parent or guardian will be needed to take part in the video.
