The NewAccess Team at Beyond Blue are excited to have recently signed a contract with the Australian Defence Force.
This new partnership will assist Defence personnel who are experiencing the symptoms of mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression but are unable or unwilling to access other services due to stigma barriers, for financial, social or cultural reasons, or because they are located in remote areas lacking in services.
The program will be designed to help Defence personnel deal with their unique day-to-day pressures of life. This may include but is not limited to the following issues; work stress or uncertainty, change in living arrangements, new parent worries, family problems, health concerns or uncertainty, long-term isolation or loneliness, financial worries.
To ensure NewAccess is seamlessly introduced into the Defence Force we're seeking a small project panel of blueVoices members to provide their feedback and comments on the program.
The project panel will be made up of:
- Current Defence personnel
- ex-Defence personnel
- Spouses of current or ex-Defence personnel
- Family members of current or ex-Defence personnel
If selected to join the project panel you will be asked to take part in series of activities from now until the 'go live' date of 1 July 2018. The activities could include:
- Online surveys
- Focus groups (via video conferencing)
- Member polls
- Subject matter experts (feedback on materials)
While we would like as much feedback from blueVoices members as possible on this project we understand you may not be available to take part in each activity. If you join this project panel you can take part in as many activities as you like.
NewAccess is a free service that provides support in the form of a coach. A coach is someone who will guide you in setting practical goals that will get you back on track.
The NewAccess program model has been developed by beyondblue. As a successful, proven model, NewAccess is now being separately funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health via Primary Health Networks (PHN’s) as services like NewAccess are being commissioned across Australia.
Applications for the NewAccess Defence project panel are now closed. If you'd like more information on this activity please contact the blueVoices Team on 03 9810 6134 or via email.
NewAccess is now available to current employees of the Department of Defence (full and part-time Australian Defence Force and Australian Public Service personnel).
NewAccess is a free and confidential service that provides six sessions with a specifically trained NewAccess Defence coach. The service is provided to all Defence personnel Australia wide, and to those serving internationally.
