Are you interested in speaking publicly about your experience with anxiety and/or depression to help reduce stigma and raise awareness of mental health issues?
If you are, this opportunity could be for you. The Beyond Blue Speakers Bureau are currently recruiting for volunteer Speakers to join the team in South Australia and Tasmania.
What's involved in being a Speaker?
Beyond Blue receives hundreds of requests each year for people to speak at a range of events, including community forums, conferences, schools and community sports clubs.
Beyond Blue Speakers share their personal stories of anxiety, depression and recovery to increase awareness, reduce stigma, encourage people to talk about how they’re feeling and to take action to get help.
All Speakers receive training on public speaking, how to share your story and responding to tricky questions.
Is being a speaker right for you?
It can be a big step to talk publicly about your mental health.
Some people find publicly sharing their personal experience, and responding to sensitive audience questions, can be confronting or stressful.
If you're interested in becoming a Beyond Blue Speaker we encourage you to reflect on your own wellbeing and whether this type of activity is right for you at this time.
Recruiting speakers is an ongoing process so you'll be able to apply again if now isn't the right time for you.
This activity has now closed. For more information on becoming a volunteer speaker please contact the Speakers Bureau on 03 9810 6100 or via email
