Hiya Yggy! Hugs to you too hun, and welcome to the cafe. What would you like? At the moment I've got a coffee and leftover Christmas dessert with cream - for breakfast!

I love Boxing Day. It's always been the rule in my house that Boxing Day is cook's (ie me) day off. People can eat and drink anything anytime but they have to get it themselves.

Meanwhile, I watch the cricket and Sydney to Hobart, well, I doze in front of them anyways. This year though, I'll also be hanging out here at the cafe.

So, how was Christmas hun, and what are you up to today?

Hiya Wayne! Lovely to see you mate!

Oh yes, I overindulged yesterday, but that won't stop me today - so many leftovers, so little Boxing Day. :-)

New lambs, wow that must be exciting ... do report back. I'll have a short black waiting for you (good thing about imaginary cafes is the coffee never goes cold!)

Hi everyone.  Just thought I pop in very quickly and check the joint out.  Cant stay now, but I will be back later.  I see I have some friends here whom I know from elsewhere.  Good to see you again Iggy and Wayne.  I have just recommended a new friend about your new Cafe Kazzl, and I hope Elizabeth may pop in later.  If you see her can you please tell her that I'm glad she made it, and give her a big welcome from me.

Okay gotta go, but catch you all later.

    Hi Kaz & everyone else,

sounds like the right thing to do for boxing day - just chill out and enjoy the quiet day!

I really love to have some dessert for brekkie. I enjoy having a late brekkie and something special over the holidays. And a long black would be nice with it. I can also chip in with some German Christmas Stollen (cake) and lovely vanilla custard.

I have been busy freezing veggies this morning - the last lot is on the cooker now, blanching, bagging, freezing - harvest does not stop over xmas. But I enjoy not having the normal day challenges to juggle at the same time.

We had a very quiet xmas day, the first one ever with just the two of us. Today we are heading out to see friends. It will be a very busy afternoon - it is a large family. I am trying to centre myself now and will probably go for a walk when it gets too much for me. But I am looking forward to see everyone.

Wayne, did you get any lambs? I always loved seeing new born lambs,  the last our mother sheep had, was triplets! That was exciting and hard work. How many sheep do you have?

I might come back later tonight and see who has been visiting during the day.

Enjoy your boxinn day, the cricket & the sailing, Yggy x

Wow, I'm envious of your veggie garden yggy. I'm looking forward to putting one in when we finally get control of the bamboo-ridden gravel pit that is our backyard. Catch you later hun.

I just googled the song that's made number one in Britain for Christmas. It's a blend of Bridge Over Troubled Waters and Coldplay's Fix You - performed by a choir of nurses, doctors and other health workers from the National Health Service. It beat Justin Bieber to number one and it's absolutely beautiful. And the video clip is guaranteed to bring a few tears. Not sure if I can post links, but it is truly worth googling.

Well, after a glorious early morning here it's now thunder, lightening and bucketing down. My fella's out on his motorbike - hope he's safe. He'll probably turn up soon bedraggled and soaked.

Well what a time to choose to give up caffeine!

But who can say no to a comfy chair? Not me that's for sure.

We had a nice a Christmas, so much left over food and some lovely gifts. Boxing Day always feels a little strange, you've been waiting for something for so long and now it's over.

Im avoiding things that might make me cry Kazzl so I'd better not look up that song, it's probably set off the waterworks. Sounds beautiful though. It's going to be about 27 here today with a little breeze. Perfect I think. But we're looking at a run in the mid to high 30s next week which I'm not looking forward to. Send us some of your rain!

Hiya Chookie - would you like a decaf? :-)

If I could send you the rain I would hun. I think 27 is the perfect temperature too. Hubby (The Pom) finds it a bit hot. He's just arrived home - wet and soggy as predicted. Drizzly rain is his natural habitat. It still puzzles him that, as he says, 'we don't do drizzle here, do we. It's no rain, or pouring'. Yep.

Glad you had a nice Christmas hun. Funny how there's such a build up to it and then it's over so quickly!

    Cheers

Hello again everyone.  How's business been so far Kazzl?  I'd love a nice hot Chai Latte.  I dont do coffee, never liked it.  So until Chai Latte came along I was always the bore who went to a coffee shop and ordered a pot of tea.

Cricket just started, so I hope you have the tele tuned into Channel 9 out the back?  Only an hour's delay due to the morning rain in Melbourne, so not too much time lost.  In case you havent heard, the Aussies are batting. I'm hoping Warner gets his century today, and Smith finds his best form again.

Yggy your vege garden sounds lovely.  We used to have a good vege patch when we were on the farm, but now it all seems like more trouble than its worth.  All the beetles, bugs and caterpillers seem to beat us to it all.

We have some nice fruit trees though.  Lemons, oranges, persimmons, mangos, macadamia nuts, plums and grapefruit (which noone seems to eat).  And at the moment we are fighting off the birds to try to keep a few bunches of nice white grapes for ourselves.  Although I think it will be a losing battle!  I have just tied an open ended bag onto a few select bunches, so it may help for long enough for them to ripen enough to pick.

How's that Chai Latte coming along Kaz?  Dont need anything to eat, still stuffed from yesterdays lunch.

I'll go out and watch Warner batting for a while, he's started really well.  So could be an exciting morning's cricket.  I went to Days 2 and 3 of the Ashes boxing Day cricket about, gee, maybe 8 years ago?  It was great. Wonderful atmosphere.  And I've also attended a few AFL games at the MCG.  Great venue, I love it.

Hold that Chai, and I'll see ya later.

    Hiya Sherie

Your chai latte is ready when you are. Sorry it took a while, I had to find out how to make it (I'm new at this cafe business y'know). And, while I was off having 'how to make chai latte' lessons, David Warner went and got himself out! We're doing OK though, 1 for 122 at the moment.

It's raining and raining and raining here. And cool, I even needed a rug on the couch for my nap, errr, I mean chai latte lessons.

You grow mangoes? How fabulous.  Are you in Queensland? Bring some into the cafe and I'll make some mango mousse. Yum.

I'm still a bit overstuffed from yesterday too, but that's not stopping me nibbling. Don't think I've eaten one healthy thing today. Oh well, I have a cherry later. Need to find some ways to use up the enormous ham too. Suggestions welcome ...

Hope everyone is having a peaceful day today.

Sherie, I posted a reply to you earlier but it hasn't arrived. At least I think I did. I use an ipad and it's a bit dodgy sometimes being a touchscreen thingy. I sometimes don't know if I've hit post properly.

Anyways, your chai latte is awaiting - hope it's OK, I don't really know how to make fancy pants new fangled beverages :-). Maybe you could teach me?  Lots of people at work love chai latte. It does smell nice.

Anyone seen Shelly Anne today? I got some Milo in specially for her ... pop in if you're about hun.

    Hi there Kaz,

I posted my msg above about 3 hours before it finally appeared.  So maybe yours is the same?  I think the moderators are taking a well earned break!  Cant blame them.

Yum, I do like Chai Latte, thankyou.  Its nice and kinda spicy, in that it is cinnamon and other indian type spices. Thats one of the best things about it I think, the smell.  Love that spicy aroma.  But its still made from tea leaves. I dont know how they make the really fancy ones.  But I do buy one of those ready made ones from Liptons.  Its in a sachet similar to what some special coffees are in.  So it comes with powdered milk additive, so you just add hot water, and maybe a little extra milk if you like.  Not as good as some of the ones you get from cafe's like yours, but still okay for a home brew.

Have I seen Shelley Anne today?  Yes I believe I saw her somewhere this morning.  Maybe mistaken, it may have been last night.  I like milo too and sometimes have a cup in winter.  But I see it as more of a winter thing.  If you're around Shell - hello.  Hope you're okay.

Have you been watching the cricket?  After losing Warner early, we have Burns and Kowahja doing pretty well now.  Starting to pick up the pace a bit, after a slow start from both of them.  I'll bet a lot of people would have been really disappointed about the early loss of Warner.

Alrighty, thanks again Kaz, I will check back in later.  But dinner to prepare now.  Making a quiche.  Using the last of the Christmas ham of course!  And we'll have it with salad.  Its getting quite warm here again, so salad definitely the go.

Hope you see Shelley sometime today.  Tell her I said goodaye, if you see her.  I see that Elizabeth hasnt been in either.  Thats a shame as I think this would be good for her.  She is doing things pretty tough at the moment. I note that she has not reponded to my last post on her other thread either.  I hope she's okay.

    Catch you next time.

    Hi yggy,

Sounds like you have a big day with the veg, do you have a large veggie  patch ?. I need to wait till next season to start growing some veggies.

How cool is it when your ewe's have multiple lambs!! the mum that dropped this morning had a set of triplets, 2 ewe lambs and 1 ram lamb they were all healthy and all had a good dose of cholstrum during the day so they should be fine.

My mob consists of 100 ewes 50 commercial and 50 stud animals and 1 commercial ram his name is Wilbur and also 1 stud ram his name is Mr Tibbs, I am also fattening 27 ram lambs at the moment they will be ready for sale and work in 4 or 5 months or so.

I run Dorper Sheep, what fantastic mums they are looking after there off spring so well and are really protective as you might know having sheep of yourself.

The rain we had this morning was needed badly, and it's cool here today a relief from the heat of late, what a real disaster the fires were in Victoria I feel so sad for them all, at least no one was hurt.

Catch you later for a chat yggy and hi to all at the BB cafe.

    Hi there Wayne,

Your dorper stud farm sounds great.  And soon to have a house too!  Wilbur and Mr Tibbs have a great job there.  Yes I believe that dorpers are great mums, unlike Merinos who are the absolute pits.  If there is a drought on I've seen many just drop their lambs and walk away.  Dreadful mums they are.  Triplets - lovely.

Hey Kaz, I see that your earlier post came through at last.  Slotted in above the other one that you sent afterwards.  Obviously some holdups happening here today.

No, I'm not in QLD.  I live on the mid north coast of NSW.  A good climate for any of the tropical fruits.  There is a good crop of mangos on this year too.  I personally dont like them, being the only fruit I dont like.  But hubby likes them.  I had a good feed of cherries for my lunch - yum.  And quiche lorraine and light salad for dinner.  Used up the last of our ham now, so dont know what we'll do for sandwiches, salads and omelettes from now on.  Will have to send hubby out to try to win another ham at our local pub raffles.  Thats where we got our last one.

We have some light rain here this evening as well.  Just came in around 6pm or so.  Some storms around, but they have missed us.

Been watching the Cricket Test, which finished up pretty good.  Entertaining at times, a little boring at others.  Its a pity poor old West Indies arent a little more competitive.  I remember when they were unbeatable as a team.  But I suspect I'm somewhat older than most of you here.     ( :

    Catch you again soon.

    Good Evening everyone.

One flat white please, no sugar. Christmas day was quiet at my daughter's. Today (Boxing Day) I entertained the family. or at least three of my children plus spouses and eight grandchildren. Great day! One of my granddaughters left for New Zealand this afternoon to join a contingent of Aussie Venturers for a Venture in NZ. No idea what the weather is there but it was very warm in Qld.

Great day with the family but I am now exhausted. Going to bed soon to recover. I have some mince pies to offer with your coffees. Made by my daughter who went to a huge amount of effort to make today great.

Kaz is greeted warmly at the door, with a hug. I like what you have done, it's beautiful. Nice and airy with the windows opened like that. Thank you so much for the milo, it's just how I like it, with lots and lots of crunchy stuff on the top. Yummy yum yum.

Thanks I would love to sit near the window.

Just relaxing here, enjoying the fresh breeze, on my hot face...And smiling at some familiar people. Ah nice and peaceful... Delightful scents are floating over, of a mixture of different coffees......

I am just closing my eyes, and imagining my own private  thoughts of your new BB cafe Kaz. So I hope that is OK?

    Good evening everyone,

can I just sit here and watch the people entering and leaving the cafe? I do not really want to order anything and sometimes I just want to sit here and think. I must admit that our little cafe is very busy, at times too busy for myself, so please excuse me if I do not answer quickly.

Kazzl, Sherie, Wayne, I love my veggie garden. It is definitely worth investing hard work into our veggie patch - which is fairly large, we grow most of our veggies and a little bit of our fruit. Our fruit trees are still very young, but I am sure soon we will get more and more fruit.

Sherie, good idea with the bags, I tie netting bags around my blackberries as soon as the fruit start growing, that helps and it is great because the ripe blackberry falls in the bag.

Wayne, I am glad to know your triplets are going strong. They are so tiny when they are born, it always amazes me how fast they grow. Our mother sheep was a merino / dorper and she was a great mum. Our mother sheep was a pet for us, so she was quite tame and did not mind us to come close to the lambs. Unfortunately we lost her this year and we are not sure if we will have any sheep after the lambs are gone. I will really miss the sheep. What is the difference between commercial and stud animals? How big is your farm? Do you have enough rain and the grass is growing nicely?

    Good night all, Yggy x

    Hi all,

I am just on my way to bed after a fairly quiet boxing day.  Thought I'd pop into the Cafe on my way past to see who's about.  Good to see a few new faces too.  Hi Mary, Iggy, CW's.  Nice to see you all again.

Hey Shelley, great to see you here tonight.  I was in a few times during the day and was disappointed not to have seen you.  Glad you made it in the end, to have your specially made milo.  Maybe you try one of Kazzl's Chai Latte's with me next time?  Its good.  Thanks for the offer of the lindt chocolate, but I really I couldnt deprive you of them!  Enjoy..........

Oh hello Gruffudd, just saw you pop your head in the door.  Welcome, nice to see you again.  What dont you like about the decorating?  I liked it.  Still each to their own I guess.

Hi Wayne - it's hardly paradise, but nice.  A bit different from the farm.  We had a fine wool merino farm between Yass and Goulburn.  But we sold 6 years ago when hubby decided it was time for him to retire, and we moved to some better weather up here.  We only have 3 acres here, but lots of bird life.  Especially love the kookaburras. And there are some koala colonys not far away.  We live about 20 minutes drive from the nearest beach, which is nice.  But at the end of the day I really am a farm girl, and would like to be back there again.

Anyway nite everybody.  I hope to see you all again tomorrow perhaps.  Thanks Kazzl for your great idea of starting a cafe.  I think its had a very successful launch today.

    See you all tomorrow.

Morning all, better get the coffee, tea, chai latte, milo, bonox on ...

I see a few people popped in for a late night snack :-)

Hi Gruffudd - what's wrong with the decor? I bet it's the bright orange wallpaper ... or maybe the lime green tables? Maybe the zebra stripe throw rugs on the pink lounges? At least there's no hipster-style milk crates, and drinks come in a proper glass not a jam jar. Unless of course you want a jam jar, we have them too. And milk crates. They're out the back in a storage room. Full of milk, cos that's what milk crates are for.

Cool and windy in Our Nation's Capital today. But always perfect weather here at the cafe, whatever your definition if perfect is, that's how it is.

Right, coffee's made, croissants are warming in the oven ...

Morning Kazzl, I was just wandering by and saw you were open.  Its actually cool and windy here today too.  Cool is good, windy not so good.  Anyway I like the decor here, please dont change a thing.

I would love a nice hot cup of english breakfast or dilmah black tea.  With proper loose tea leaves, not tea bags. And a real tea pot.  Dont you hate it when you get a pot of tea, only to find tea bag tags dangling out of them? First cuppa of the day has to be ordinary black tea.  White, no sugar thanks Kazzl.  Need it to wake up a bit after very little sleep last night.  Couldnt shut the brain down unfortunately, so I'm pretty tired now.

Oh, and yes thankyou - I'd love one of those croissants.  Just lightly warmed up, nice an crispy, with butter and strawberry jam please.  Yummo..........  And I'll be out on that comfy sofa out the back, it looks very inviting. Noone else there yet, but if any of my friends arrive, please send them out to me.  I actually feel like a chat.

Hope business is thriving for you today Kazzl.  But when do you get to have a break from the Cafe?

Do you have anything planned for today?  I mean in real life, as opposed to the Cafe side of things.  We have been invited to a lunch today.  Half an hours drive away, out towards the beach.  I'm sure it will be nice once we get there, but at the moment I'm really not looking forward to it at all.  I'd much rather stay here at the cafe on this comfy sofa, and wait for some of our friends to arrive.  And relax watching the cricket with you when it comes on shortly.

Anyway I will be able to watch the first session before we have to leave for lunch.  I am really hoping Smithy makes a ton today.  But I think I said something similar about Warner yesterday.  And look what I did to him, really put the mokka on him, and he got himself out.  I was happy that Burns and Khawaja (never can spell that name) got their centuries though.  They are both fairly young and need to step up.  I expect you'll be showing the cricket on your tele at the Cafe?

Cafe is pretty quiet so far this morning.  Morning tea coming up though, should get a few through the door then.

    Sherie x

Ooops, been so busy I've forgotten to feed the ipad. Hungry thing ... best plug it in for a while.

Back later ... cafe's still open though - it's a community cafe, not mine, and it's always open. Help yourselves. xx
