Create an Always Available voicemail message

Any call could be a call for help, so let your contacts know Beyond Blue is always there for support if you can’t pick up the phone.

Follow the steps below to update your voicemail message and spread the word that Beyond Blue is always available.

1) Create your message

First, think about what you’re going to say. If you feel comfortable, share a part of your personal experience with mental health to explain why doing the update is important to you. We suggest writing your message down before you record. And make sure you include this line:

“I want you to know, Beyond Blue is always available if I am not. Just search: Beyond Blue always available”

Or, if you don’t feel comfortable creating your own message, just follow this script:

Hi it’s <your name>.

I’ve given my voicemail to Beyond Blue this festive season because I know how important it is to find support when you need it.

So I want you to know, Beyond Blue is always available if I am not.

Just search: Beyond Blue always available.

Or leave a message and let’s chat soon.

2) Find and record your voicemail

If you don’t know how to find and update your voicemail message, we’ve compiled a how-to guide for Australia’s most popular mobile providers which you can download here.

If your provider is not on the list, contact them directly through their customer service.

3) Spread the word this festive season

Our Always Available campaign is running for the festive season, so we’d love you to keep your voicemail message up until 11 January 2021. But the message is a powerful one year round, so feel free to leave it up and continue breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health.

4) Spread the word on social
