It would be so great to have a thread here where we can chat about almost anything. We can have fun, tell jokes, share stories, you name it!

There's a "BB Cafe" thread in the general area where lots of people chat daily and have established some nice light hearted conversations, it's treated as if it's a real cafe, there's even virtual baked goods and coffee!

Let's create a chat here for anyone to join, in particular the GLBTIQ community to let their collective hair down and chill out. It's a safe space to be yourself.

We just need a name :)

What a fabulous idea Paul. 

I was in a cafe today in a Riverina town where I stopped of on my way somewhere. One of those farming communities with an abundance of tumble weed in the main street where one feels a little out of place not being straight and all. So I went in, and there was an old lady with purple hair and a cardigan and her son wearing a check shirt and gumboots. He looked so butch and scary that I contemplated making my exit right away. But then he stood up and said hello in the most high pitched camp voice imaginable. I couldn't have been happier then at that moment. Now I have a new mate, his name is Francis, and he is the proud owner of 200 dairy cows. We could provide the milk for the cafe from there. Hope your day went well.

Hi all, what a good idea for a thread.

I lived with a lady for 10 years. Initially at first there was no dominance from her so all went well. Then as time went by she slowly gained control of both our finances and I was, sadly left with pocket money. Such was my gullibility and trust.

I constructed and flew model airplanes. Like any hobby and sport it wasn't cheap. I earned 3 times more than my partner. I was, following several airplane crashes, expecting a lecture on the expense and it arrived..

"How much do you think you've spent on your airplanes in the last 7 years"? she asked , "$11,000 I reckon dear" I replied. "Are you proud of that" she returned. "Yep...I have engines and radio equipment to show for it" I said. "Only equipment to show for it...that isn't much" she accused......" well, its more than spending $35,000 for cigarettes with nothing to show for it"...

Checkmate.

Needless to say I could have added..."except ruined lungs". But it isn't in me. We separated a couple of years later.

Its one of the very few times I've ever anticipated such a conversation. And I'm glad I did.

I'm not keen on domineering people. They can Foxtrot Oscar as far as I am concerned.

I just made my boss a cushion for his lounge. He's a keen Hawthorn AFL supporter so I embroidered something special on the front, put a zipper in and wrapped it.

HUGE smile from him. I just got pics of the cushion taking pride of place on the lounge. Wonder if his wife will be a little upset, I think I'll need to make one for her as well to even things out.

Oh by the way Gruffudd, milk supply from your new friend would be ace! Coffee with fresh unpasteurized and non homogenised milk. Don't forget to stir in the cream!

Staring is my speciality. I can stir a cup of coffee almost as well as I can stir a possum. 

Cushions sound grand we might need some for the cafe too, perhaps we could put portraits of the footballers on them rather then the team colours ;) 

 

Hunky chunky footy player cushions and how about lovely lady lounge blankets. I'd better warm up the janome, get the overlocker rockin' and choose some images to go on the pillows. Oh I vote that one of them MUST be Ben Cohen (He's mine, eyes off!)? He is the most awesome advocate for GLBTI rights. He's also the epitome of my type. (Still mine, look but no touchy touch)

Did I mention I'm in the love with my new Janome embroidery machine? If not, I'm in the love with my new Janome embroidery machine! Ben is a close second.

I'm crap with names but I reckon Transcendent is the pick of the bunch so far.  It means so many things, not least of which will hopefully be welcoming to all our trans and genderqueer friends.

Hellooooo! (small white squawky bird wobbles in with large picnic basket on head - not an easy task doncha know) ...

How lovely to see a new chat-space-cafe-thingy on the forum! My mates and I from the BB Cafe thought you might not have had time to get get your menu sorted yet, so in true cafe solidarity, we've been baking. (drops basket, remarkably not splodging any of the assorted baked treats within)

So, please help yourselves. We have apple crumble and jam drops from me, caramel slice and profiteroles from Carol, cinnamon scrolls and fresh fruit from Shelley, baked cheesecake, raspberry coulis, cream and ice cream from Sherie and a big dollop of love and good wishes from us all.

So, you need a name eh? Rainbow Cafe? (or RainBBow Cafe), The Rainbow Room? Just a thought.

Doing a reveal would be very eurovision. Being a queer type space I suspect we have a bit of a show going on up there on the stage, so why not make it magical and fabulous. Can't resist a pact.

Is that Shelley's world famous cheese cake? Might be worth a try.

On the left is Rusty who is a transman that likes to dress as a sailor and does a mean wolf whistle should there be a good looking tradie catching his eye across a crowded bar, on the right is Max who is a talented painter and Doctor Who nerd that sometimes braves the stage. Both the alters are way more outgoing.

Well hello handsome!

My pic is loading. It's me this Australia day weekend riding around Tassie. My friends and I did 2,000K in 4 days. We try and go every year. Such an awesome adventure.

Ha ha Rob.  Actually the baked cheesecake with raspberry coulis was my contribution.  I do recommend it though.  It is one of the few things I actually bake well.  Shelley contributed the cinnamon scrolls which are yummy too.

Thinking about names, I agree with Kaz.  Rainbow Cafe or Rainbow Bar and Lounge perhaps?  Or on the same 'rainbow' theme, maybe "Pot 'o' Gold Cafe".

I'm more of a traditional 'gal myself, so I will probably stick mainly with Kaz's BB Cafe.  But I would like to drop in occasionally to say hi to all you good folk.  If that would be okay?  

Anyway, good luck with all the planning and preparation for your new Cafe.  When is official opening day?

So it is the morning after Mardigras. Max is up on the stage doing a fine job of a Cilla Black number but looking like she has been awake all night (probably because she has). Rusty has brought some old friends to the cafe and is catching up on the years events in the city and avoiding thinking of the long drive this afternoon. Personally, I tend not to go to things where there are a lot of people, it is anxiety I guess. I am rather happy at home, a walk is next I need some new placemats for this place and think that might be my destination. The hard part is that I have orange chairs and getting something that goes right there is a challenge. Hope you are all having a fine Sunday.

Hi Paul and Everyone in the new Café!

Paul, are you going to bring the embroidery machine to the café one day> I might drop by and help you with a few of those cushions you were talking about. The only problem is that I might like to take some of the footballer cushions home myself!

Or maybe I can just drop by the café and hug the cushions now and then. My husband might not like me to have the cushions at home!

Hi All at the new café on the block,

So Paul, do you like your Melting Moments with lemon icing in the middle, vanilla icing or something else? I like the lemon myself.

You may well be busy with those footy cushions. Have you considered there are NRL, AFL and Soccer footy teams... I heard there was to be a women's AFL competition starting up soon. 

There are women soccer teams as well. Maybe the ladies might like some cushions of their favourite ladies as well! Oh dear. You may need an army of sewers to help you with this project. Ha. Ha.

I will bring along my machine and extra Melting Moments!

Well, I am such a long way from the cafe tonight. A long way west in NSW in a little town I used to call home, for context the nearest set of traffic lights is in another state. I work for an NGO that takes me here. I do have a soft spot for it and the people. One thing that is happening here is a recognition that other genders and sexualities exist and a willingness to make our town a better place particularly for gay, lesbian, queer and trans kids, but also for everyone. How fantastic it is when people finally understand that to make our lives better actually makes everyones lives better.
