    Hello Beth&Co

This Cafe thread does go like a rocket!

Beth&co mentioned "my bones ache and eyesight's failing. Hahaha" I hear you loud and clear there....:-) I was born 48hours before 1960....and the bones do hurt!!!

I am rapt that you have had a look around the forums Beth....and we are friendly here. I really hope you can stick around .......if and when you choose do so...There are no expectations here!

Hi Paw Prints......I thought I was on my own with not getting a flu shot!!!....Its not just the injection that bugs me but....I dont subscribe to the media hype that keeps telling me what to do :-)

Hey Jackson.....I hear you with your GF and the heater....lol. 'Some' partners dont give much thought to the power bill when it comes in ;-)

Hey Dools....like yourself and Tim....I dont feel the cold either.

    Bear Hugs

    Hi all

@Jojo I also haven't had the flu for about six years possibly longer even though I am immunosupressed ie. on medicine to stop my body from protecting itself to a fair extent. I do all the same things as you, keep up the garlic, ginger, basil, turmeric and a few more. For the same reason I have to get the flu shot free, whether that is one of the reasons for me being flu free I cannot say.

@Paul Glad I am not the only one who has to struggle to keep up with this thread! LOL!

Since being back I have been cooking up different dishes and put aside the left-overs for a rainy day, never know when I won't have the energy.

    Irene.

    Hi all,

So this is a random thought. There are so many hair products out there but I've noticed that if i get my hair done by the hairdresser they use nothing but hairspray or wax to hold it and that's only for an occasion. They don't use mousse, anti frizz, styling spray gels etc after washing and before styling.

Why do we use all the products to dry/style out hair?

    Hi CFM,

Probably bcas theyre available and being sold to us. All we really need is a good shampoo, conditioner, treatment and blowdry in my opinion. But then curly hair gets frizzy...gee I'm no help. Lol.

I used to use 'Wella' shampoo & conditioner in the 80's and they had something that resembled 'horse hair' in the ingredients....and yes I am serious

Always a treat to see you on the forums CMF :-)

    Best always

Has anyone noticed that if a service provider thinks you may leave they will offer you a great deal. Allyou have to do is hesitate slightly and they will give you a great offer. I went from 6gb of data on my mobile phone to130 gb for only $5 extra because I told them I'd think about it when offered 80gb. My partner was offered a chePer Foxtel deal with more channels when he told them he'd cancel.

at the moment my provider won't give me any more data .... I jump onto wifi whenever I can find it so it just accumulate each month. And now the bucket of free data is full. Until I use some of it.

I was chatting with my mum about yesterday about dad and phones, and that moved onto issues with technology and phones etc. and young kids with technology and screen time etc. So I have a question for you'se all...

How often do you look at your phone each day?

(You don't have to specify the number of hours or minutes, you could say "too much" if you wanted to, or you could use a scale of 0 to 5, where 0 is not at all, and 5 is "far too much". And if you want add a comment about your thoughts on this, feel free to add that as well.)

    I would say about 3.

iPhones actually have a setting where you can set up an alert to say you have reached a limit on screen time. You can put it on different apps and websites or just the phone in general.

It also says how many times your phone has been picked up with a graph of how many times and when.

I'd say a 5. I check my phone about 30 times a day. Could be doing more productive things.

Happy mothers days to all the mums! Hope you were spoilt.

Hi Everyone....New members are always welcome to post too!

When 'mobile' phones came out in 1983-4 everyone had a number that started with 007.......seriously....and they had a thick cord that was attached to the console in our car...

    • A standard Motorola in car phone was circa $4000-00 + installed......before the bill arrived lol...The installation also required a heavy box of electronics that was installed in the boot as well
    • Just a note....a block of land in suburban melbourne was approx $8000-10,000 at the time..(now $400K)
    • Many of my peers that have had cellphones for so long call them 'Electronic Dog Collars'

I check mine once every 3 days...maybe! Sony Xperia Z5

    Cool topic Tim :-)

Hi Paul and Everyone else, a couple of quotes:

'If only our eyes saw souls instead of bodies. How different our ideals of beauty would be'.

'Don’t regret about the things you did; regret about the thing you didn’t do, when you had the chance'

'You know the sound you hear when you close the fridge and something falls?
That’s the sound of someone else’s problem'.

Isn't it amazing when our top two supermarkets can put an item, normally worth $16 on special for $8, how much are they ripping us off for.

    Best wishes.

    Geoff.

    Excellent thought CMF

I'm in the process of creating a self-care guide and there was one chapter on hair care.

Basically. What is best for your hair depends on your hair type. Most people are not aware that the more we wash our hair the worse it can be for your hair. Also too much brushing is not good either. Blow drying can also do damage. After washing it should just dry naturally where possible.

I only wash my hair weekly now. Still body wash daily but I don't let my hair get wet. If there is a special occasion there are special products out there like a dry shampoo that is available as a powder or similar forms. Still to learn about them.

In summary - if we wash our hair less frequently we would not need to use half of the products that these hair dressers use. WE COULD ALL SAVE MONEY!

    Irene.

Hi All, I've had my flu shot from my GP, and he says once you get to 65 the flu shot is different, it contains the pneumonia vacuum, so I said that when I was looking after an elderly chap he had that injection, but every year he was hospitalised because he had pneumonia, but the vacuum is to stop the much more serious type.

Old age is not graceful at all, it happens overnight, but when we were young we thought that we would be better off, not when you have to ask someone to change the light globe or open a jar for you, it's sad but everyone has to go through it.

Hi MF and All, aren't you tired of all the promises these 2 leaders have made for this election, I certainly am because of the amount of money they're said is an enormous amount, but as soon as one of them is elected they'll say (as usual) we don't have that much money to fund this project.

It's unbelievable what they want us to expect and to trust them.

h'yall thought I pop into say hello & catch up will all the conversations frankly speaking I hav'nt really caught up but that is ok as they are love reading all the different directions the posts are going, lots of variety happening! I ended up getting the flu shot again this year after b passed away as I copped laragnitis out of it as well when I got the flu earlier, as 4 all what the pollies are promising did not believe what they said in the past and hindsight no more now, if it wasn't illegal to vote I would not but already pre-voted enough of that lol. I started Zumba classes last week and Tai Chi this week & totally unco-ordinated with the both, Zumba I basically just danced cause could not keep up & totally out of breath @ the end of 1 hour & yes I did take it easy lol but decided 2 much effort 4 this little black duck, with Tai Chi I have already being on the meditation side and 2day was the 1st physical side still un-co-ordinated but again it was 1st lesson, the teacher said it will take me @ least 6 months to get it togeather so on that info I am patient, it is such a slow, elegant and graceful exercise to follow, b had it hands down from many years ago but too impatient to show me more than once he allways told me I look like a duck when exercising but lovingly said. I made caramel choc-chip biccies the other day but they have long since been eaten, tomorrow I am making jam drops with the 3 different jams I have in fridge, might as well put them all to use. Enjoy your day guys. Hugs and kisses to you all!! Spitfire1

Hi all I hope everyone is doing ok and finding something to do this weekend. I’m doing a cook up tomorrow so my partner and I both have lunches sorted for the week, anyone got suggestions?

Was very lucky to walk straight into the polling area today without a single person in front of us, left the house walked down and arrived home with a snag in less than 15 minutes.

I was cooking up a storm at one of the election booths in the morning and then was able to vote. Took instructions from every party that put their hands out. And I was able to get some cake as well.

    Hi Everyone,

Early voting was set up in a hall near where I volunteer on Thursday, so I voted there. The people handing out info must have thought I looked like an independent kind of thinker as they didn't hand me anything and not a sausage in sight!

Spent some time yesterday cleaning up the garden ready for the weed invasion! Lovely to have had some rain though.

    Cheers all from Dools

Thanks. Despite the pre polling there was a good turnout. The amount that we would normally sell at say 3pm were sold out around 11:30. Some people had to go and buy more supplies. The cakes had pretty much sold out at midday. I did get a couple books - one is about Robin Williams, which should be an interesting read.
