Hello Hanna, Grandy, Mrs D, Katy, Sleepy & everyone,

I smiled when I read Sam was playing like a puppy.... that has brightened my day...

I finally spat the dummy with my laptop... so I raided the money I have been putting away to finish my verandah & bought a new one... amazingly I ordered it in the early hours of Thursday & it arrived yesterday!!... it is only a cheapie but it works which is wonderful... Hanna I had a look at tablets & it seems you can get android ones for under $100...

Grandy - I lived at home caring for Dad for my early adult years, but I have now been living alone (except for my furs) for over 30 years... my ex partner & I didn't live together... so being alone is what I am used too... though in the beginning after Dad died it was hard to adjust to finding my own way/life as I had spent so much of my time caring for him... & before that running the house for the family.

Dools - I hope you managed to stay warm on your early walk... the fog here didn't lift until after noon...

    Hugs

    Hi paws and everyone

I'm sorry my posts are short lately but it's difficult on the tiny phone...

Paws can I ask what brand laptop you bought and where did you see the tablets for sale?

The days are lengthening here and I'm already dreading summer and the heat...

I tidied and cleaned all the house last week I did a bit each day and what an improvement! I feel so much better with the house presentable!

Yes Sam had a smile on his face today Paws!,

Off to watch more Seinfeld! 😉🐾🎶🌻🏡

    Hi everyone

hope u find something u like to replace ur laptop hanna. stay warm!

hi grandy , so many adults have trouble making friends. I have stayed in hosptal half a dozen times and can't tell u how many ppl confided in me that they have never had a romantic partner, or do not have someone they can call as a friend.

i do have friends but find since i'm older that the closeness and intimacy is missing, i have more superficial frinds, and would never share with them, for example, my MH struggles. Kids share everything, particularaly teen girls. I miss having a "tribe".

hi dools, it is indeed hard in a freezing house. i hope u are warm

big hugs to lovely Paws and beautiful Katy. Keep well, all.

    Hi Everyone,

My mind really does get confused trying to remember what everyone has written here, so please excuse the somewhat muddled replies!

You should see me at work, if I have more than one thing to deal with at a time my mind goes blank for a while before it kicks in to gear again.

Anyone else have that trouble? I was out walking with my sister and had trouble watching where I was going and listening to her at the same time. If I'm doing the dishes I find it hard to carry out a conversation as well. Maybe dementia is setting in!

Hanna, my husband didn't take me to the hospital as last time I was there, the nurses yelled at me for crying and I was then in a bigger mess than I was before I arrived and I ran away from hospital! Guess he just didn't think it was worth it.

I'm so pleased Sam is feeling so much better. Same for us humans, reduce the amount of pain we are in mentally, physically, emotionally and we all do better!

Hope you all find some nice distractions today.

Cheers to you all from Dools

    Hi Sleepy

There is a Seinfeld clip on utube called Making friends in your thirties. Very funny and explains why it's hard to find friends as an adult!

    Hi there Mrs D!

That doesn't sound like dementia it just sounds like you've got too much going on and too much on your plate! No wonder you are finding it hard to focus!

Poor you those nurses shouting at you sound very unsympathetic. What a shame you didn't find people with some understanding and kindness instead of that sort of attitude.

I have been lonely today I think it's something about Sundays! Just kept wishing I had someone to talk to.

I have been taking photos of the house and garden as I have decided to go to the local member of parliament here - people tell me he is very good - as $80 per fortnight for mowing the lawn on a pension is just not possible for me any longer... I've collected all the receipts and got photos of the huge block of land here and will try to get an appointment soon and see if he can help me with the Housing office, especially as I have reduced vision..

A rather boring day and a long drive tomorrow to another town to get Sam groomed.

    Hello Hanna, wave to all,

I did limit the places I looked at online for my laptop to well known businesses... just 6 different places in all so there may be cheaper sites out there... surprisingly Officeworks had the lowest prices for laptops etc... I need my laptop to have the processing power to cope with me having many different programs running at the same time for my genealogy stuff & I have always bought Acer brand... it is just my personal preference though... there are other good brands much cheaper if you just want the basics...

I think going to your local member is a great idea... you do need far more support than you're getting.

Dools - I have to constantly scroll back & forth when replying to stop myself getting muddled... it sounds perfectly normal to me... I think Hanna hit the nail on the head about you having a lot on your plate...

Another chilly day here... I don't know if it is just me getting older... but it seems much colder this year than usual... I'm off to put a jumper on.

    Hugs to all

    Paws

Hi Hanna, Paws, Katy and all reading,

Hanna, I do hope you receive some advice and help from the member of parliament regarding your garden. $80.00 per fortnight does sound like a lot of money to be spending. We have had no rain here for months so nothing has been growing! The rain is lovely, it means all the weeds and wild grass is happening now. Might need to borrow some goats! Ha. Ha.

Yes, I do know my mind is tired. When I am stressed at work my mind just shuts down.

Hope you all manage to keep warm.

Just a short one for now, a friend who was going to visit later has just sent a text they will be here in 1/2 hour. I want to do the dishes and clean up a little!

Cheers all hope you have a good day despite what ever is happening or not around you. Cheers from Dools

Hi Hanna, Paws, Sleepy, Dools, Grandy, all :)

Hanna I hope your trip to get Sam groomed went ok today. Good that you got your car serviced. I imagine you have a nice warm coat for Sam after his groom. It’s cold and stormy here today and my furs haven’t got out of bed!

Dools, lovely you had a visitor and incentive to tidy up (I need that! Lol).

saw an ad for an interesting program on tomorrow evening on ABC. I think it’s call miss represented - about women in politics in Australia. Thought I’d mention it in case anyone is keen.

Excuse the typos. Hugs all x

    Hi Dools Katy paws

Dools I hope you enjoyed your friend's visit!

I had a long day yesterday and have a flat out day ahead today I just wanted to say a quick hello to everyone.

Sam looks hilarious after his clip as he had a bad knot in one ear so the groomer cut both his ears off short!

I've never had a groomer do this before and I think she just couldn't be bothered getting the knot out - I told her it was there.. Anyway his ears will grow back eventually but he does look a sight!

    Hugs to all 🙂🍄🌸🏖️🎶🔆🌳🍁🎠

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks Katy for the news about the show on T.V. I did see a bit of information about that this morning while I was doing my stretches.

Hanna, hope Sam is keeping warm after his clipping. It is good to have a laugh so hope you get plenty of those looking at Sam for a while.

My Sister in law had a very fluffy cat that needed clipping as the cat did not like to be brushed and would knot up. The poor cat looked hilarious after a serious grooming with a pompom looking head, feet and top of it's tail.

My friend and I had a lovely day and decided to explore the region.

Off to the physio this morning hoping to get relief from my headaches then to work.

Cheers to you all from Dools

A hectic day here today with three appointments including another for Sam to have his arthritis shot. I'm tired out so please excuse me for not posting much tonight everyone!

Katy thanks for the tip about the ABC tv.

Hi. Paws Dools Katy Grandy sleepy everyone

A quick post. Did anyone watch the show on the abc last night about women in parliament it was amazing how long it took them to get a women's toilet!!!

Tried my computer and even the wifi wouldn't function so I ended up giving it to the computer repair guy to see if the laptop can be saved or written off... I'll know tomorrow.

We are in for a final blast of cold weather this weekend. Sam seems to be OK wearing his parka.

I bought a couple of fabric face masks today they seem a bit more comfortable than the surgical ones and I think we'll be wearing them for a while yet. Sigh.😞😷

Hope everyone is well and warm. Hugs 😷😷😷🐾🎶🔆🌿🏝️

    Hello Hanna, wave to everyone,

Lass you nearly gave me a heart attack when I read that Sam's groomer had cut his ears off... I had to read it twice to realise I had jumped to the wrong conclusion... so very relieved Sam still has his ears even if they aren't as fluffy.

Yes I did enjoy last nights episode... I loved the female pollie who decided to just use the men's loo & left a pair of boots outside the door to signal to the men she was in there...

Have you had a chance to see your local member yet?.. or are they closed because of the covid situation?...

Fingers crossed they can recover your laptop for you... we don't realise how important they are to us until they don't work... it has made such a difference having my new one... now I just need to keep everything crossed that they might improve mobile phone/internet out my way... I just completed a Gov survey asking for details from people about problems with services in their area... it is supposed to be to guide where new or upgraded services will go...

Dools I hope the visit to the physio worked for your headache...

Very wet here the last few days...

Sorry to alarm you about Sam's ears! He looks extra cute now!

    Hello Hanna,

Hopefully it will be something that just needs him to re-format your drive to fix... still keeping all fingers & paws crossed for you...

The forecast here for today was 95% chance of rain from this morning... it has been cloudy... but apart from a very brief shower or two it has been very mild & dry...

The covid situation isn't good in either of our states... it is spreading so fast... I finally found the message from my niece inviting me to her daughter's birthday... it is meant to be the weekend after next... though it's not looking good for it to go ahead at the moment... especially as my niece's health issues make her at high risk if she should get covid...

Yet another bird rescued from inside my house this morning... it is lucky Woofa tries to wack things with his paw, rather than bite them... doubly lucky for the wren is he has such a poor aim with his wacks...

Woofa is pestering me as I'm late with his dinner... he doesn't know I'm deliberately feeding him later as he got his lunch late... you would be excused for thinking he is being starved if you could see his attempts to get me to notice his bowl is empty... only another half hour for him to wait.

    Hi. Paws and everyone

I don't like your chances of being able to get to Melbourne paws!

A cold blustery day here not at all pleasant. No word about my laptop driving past I could see he wasn't in the shop. He normally is closed on Friday but told me that he'd be in this morning but I'd say with the bad weather he decided to stay home!

My elderly friend who used to ring me constantly still texts me frantically. I made myself ring her today as I know she's bored but the texting is so intrusive and it's constant. Mostly now I simply don't reply or wait until another day but it does get on my nerves.

Off to get a hot chocolate and have it in the car it's soooo cold here today the wind doesn't stop!

We got sleet today but no proper snow but it's forecast for tomorrow so fingers crossed! It's so pretty when it snows on the mountains around here!

Had some lovely but chilly walks today. Not much other news.

Katy, I hope you are going OK today, how's the new book going? I hope you are having a good break from all the stress.

Grandy, good to see you around and I hope they get the phone and internet fixed for you very soon! You're great doing the diamond art, I was given one as a present once but didn't have the patience to do it all! And I wish I had curly hair! I think you're so lucky!

Dools how are you going and what's happening with you?

Did anyone see the dreadful floods in Germany and the Netherlands gracious!!

    Hugs from us here 🙂👍🐾🦋🏂⛸️🎿❄️⛄☔🌈

    Hello Dear Hanna and everyone...🤗..

I think you are very brave going for a walk this morning...it’s so very cold, we sometimes get sleet Our here..I think it’s colder then snow....and makes the ground slippery...

I only do the diamond painting in bits and pieces..I can’t seem to be able to do anything for long periods of time...eventually I will finish it...then I have the beautiful one of the wolves to do..now I wish I just started the wolf one...😁..

Snow looks incredibly beautiful on the mountains..I remember a few years driving through the mountains and it really does look so magical....

Curly hair, yes I would like but mine is more frizzy then curly and so hard to manage...I have always wanted straight shiny hair..my hair has no shine to it..

Woofa sounds so cute trying to show you his bowl is empty...how sweet is that..my 2 are very fussy eaters and I get annoyed with them, when I cook something for them and they don’t eat it....They do have a bowl of kibble they can munch on through the day if they want to....

Its so good that at least my iPad has internet on it, so I can talk here..but my phone is still without service...Maybe the men doing the road improvement has done something to the internet....I just wish now my phone worked, so I can be in contact with my sons and their families....

I hope you all stay warm and are rugged up under a warm doona or blanket....

My love, hugs and care everyone..💜🤗🌹..fur baby hugs all round as well...🐕🤗.

Hi Hanna, Grandy, Paws, Dools, all :)

16 here but a freezing 16 if that’s possible! Had a jumper and puffer jacket walking Storm and still chilly! Back in bed and don’t want to get up and make dinner brrrrr (I’m sure you’ll all think 16 sounds pretty ok lol)

Grandy sorry to read you’re having internet trouble, it sounds frustrating. Maybe a call to the internet ombudsman if you’re not getting the help you think you should be to resolve it.

Hanna I’m really liking my book. Project Hail Mary - some space adventure. It’s described on the cover as fun and enjoyable, and I’d agree. Not my usual read but glad I picked it up :)

Ive not seen anything about flooding overseas, but I’ve been avoiding the news. Was a bit covid overload and stressed me out. Guessing the flooding is climate change related. Awful what’s going on.

Best of luck for snow tomorrow if that’s what you’re hoping for. I can’t imagine how cold that would be. I doubt I’d be wishing for it lol

    Hi. Paws

I don't think you'll be able to go to Melbourne unless you quarantine for two weeks afterwards! What a shame. These are difficult times to travel anywhere!

I love your description of Woofa being unhappy with an empty food bowl! Sam sometimes shows me his annoyance if I am late with his food by scratching the metal bowl loudly with his paws and then giving me a hard look!

Dogs sure don't need words to be able to talk!

We had a few degrees below zero here with blustery winds and more today. Funnily enough I enjoy it as there's almost nobody out walking so Sam and I enjoy walking along the river all by ourselves - and I enjoy a hot coffee in the car with the heating on afterwards and listen to music while I enjoy the glorious views over the mountain ranges!

    Keep warm and snug! 😊☔🐾⛄💟⛄⛸️❄️🧦🧥🧤😚🏔️🍜☕

    Hello Hanna, wave to all,

Shocking is the only word I can think of seeing the damage done in the floods in Europe... it clearly isn't just normal weather variation as villages & houses that have stood for hundreds of years were just destroyed... my heart goes out to the folk living there.

Yes my trip to Melbourne is off... a little six year old has been in tears having her birthday parties cancelled at the last minute just like last year... I will post her present so she still has a bit of excitement getting an unexpected parcel in the mail.

You might still get snow... the forecast is fore another cold front with snow to low levels coming through this week... we have had so much rain here the creek is up & has spilled out over the paddocks beside it... I must say your coffee in the car sounds so relaxing... especially after a walk in cold weather...

Yes paws I've never seen anything like those floods in Germany - incredible - and the heatwaves in Canada and America - and our govt here still denies climate change is happening!

That poor little 6 year old girl having her birthday party cancelled two years running! That's so sad, poor little love! How nice that you have a parcel on its way to her. Something to unwrap!

I'm very blah today I think the grey weather and no company has got me down. I don't feel as if I've achieved anything today.

I think they've changed the snow forecast later this week to just rain. Bother.

Going to watch Insiders tonight as usual on the Abc.

    Cheers 🙂🐕🐾☔⛄

    Hello Hanna,

Well we have had breaks of sun today... but it is still cold... it looks like we have storm clouds building so expecting more rain later...

Like you I struggle to understand how our pollies can still be denying climate change is a real thing... especially with all the extremes of weather that have been worsening over the last 5 years or so... did you see Barnaby on insiders yesterday... talk about a dinosaur...

Vet visit tomorrow morning for another arthritis needle for Woofa... he has been favouring his leg all weekend... he is currently standing in the laundry barking at the manhole in the roof... the manhole cover is just a light piece of ply which bangs or gets blown into the roof space every time we have any wind... so I've given up putting it back in place & just leave it open into the roof space... he must be smelling/hearing some critter up there...

Do your music lessons start back this week? It would be good for you to have that to look forward to.

    Stay warm

    Hi paws and everyone

Gosh with my eyesight trying to type on the tiny phone keyboard is difficult you'll have to excuse typos!

The repair guy today confirmed the hard drive on my laptop has gone nd and I can't afford to get it replaced until I get another pension payment so I'm stuck for the time being... I really miss the computer!

Yep I saw Barnaby on TV last night and cringed. Is this really the best australia can do? It's horrifying and embarrassing!

Woofa is cute thee things he barks at, there must be so many things in the world that are hard for a dog to understand!

Cold grey and gloomy here and I had a bad pain flare so not much happened apart from walking Sam. Had to rest a lot today.

Yes I have music on Thursday afternoon with my lovely teacher but the state govt moved the music school out of our lovely last century building and into a run down old homestead at the end of town. Everyone is upset. So much for how the govt values music and the arts in this country! Yes I'm looking forward to the nice company. Two of the teachers are stuck in the mountains and can't come here to teach because of the covid border!

What do you think of the UK opening up when Boris Johnson has come down with covid!!! Oh dear.

Sam's been sleeping on the bed like a cat most of the day. I'm suspicious he's really a cat in dog's clothing!

    Keep warm everyone 🙂🐾🐕💟🏂🧦🧥🧤🍵☔🎿❄️

    Hello Hanna, wave to all,

I'm not surprised you're missing your computer... it must be hard trying to do things on a small phone... especially with your eye sight problems...

Let me guess... they moved the music school so they can sell the building to a developer... I hope the homestead has heating for you.. is it closer to your place or further for you to go?

I'm shaking my head in disbelief that the UK is stopping all covid precautions... even the medical mob over there are saying it's crazy... I dread to think what will happen.

Do be careful if you go to the shops lass... covid seems to be popping up in towns near you...

Bitterly cold here with lots & lots of rain & hail... the roads were swimming with water... we managed to get to the vet for Woofa's needle & the vet is happy with his general health... we are both on the couch with the heater on & I've just put the hot water bottle on my feet as they haven't warmed up all day.

    Hi paws

It's freezing here too and the abc has lost signal here.,rats!

    Good news about Woofa!

Moving the music school was a state govt decision but it's so sad as music has always been at the heart of this town and it feels empty without people coming and going with their musical instruments and hearing music being played as you went by in the park...

It's further to travel and a long way from the take away coffee places that everyone relies on!!! Very important... ☕

I contacted the local Mp here today to try and get some help about the lawn mowing costs but his office wasn't terribly helpful. I have to write them an email which is difficult without a computer. I'll have to spend ages in the library where you only get limited time. Nothing is ever easy!

I agree about the UK.. But Boris Johnson doesn't inspire confidence does he??!!!

Yes I have a message there are contacts in big toe with O and little town with B... It's bound to turn up here those people did stop at a service station in this town 😕

Sam's little ears have gone extra crinkly from the rain he looks very cute!

    💟🎶☔🐾⛄❄️🧤

Hello Paws, Katy, Hanna, Grandy and all reading,

I feel like I was sucked away in a time warp or a black hole for a while. Not really sure where the last week disappeared to.

Have come back to earth with a thump as my husband inadvertently went to a covid exposure site here in S.A. on the weekend and we are now in home detention/isolation/quarantine. Yesterday we sat in the car for almost 8 hours waiting for a covid test, have to do the same now on day 5 and day 13.

Thankfully we can organise a food delivery from a supermarket in a town close to us. I had to call work to say I was unavailable for at least 2 weeks. Only work casual so no pay and possibly no assistance due from the Government.

I'm going to concentrate on the many things I have to be thankful for: food, water, a house, still have wood for the fire, books to read, jigsaw puzzles , a whole house to clean, a garden to tend to, a large enough yard to walk around in ( not allowed to leave the house due to quarantine) and a load of toilet paper!

I enjoy reading your comments about your dogs, Hanna seeing Sam's ear fur must be cute, and a dog that barks at an open man hole would be funny and maybe annoying if it happens during the night. Paws I hope Woofa is better after his injection.

Our cat sometimes sits in front of the bookshelf we have full of DVDs I often wonder if she is deciding which one she would like to watch! Ha. Ha.

The sun is shining here for now, I might try and find some enthusiasm to wash the windows. I will be sitting here looking out of them for the next 14 days so a clear view might be nice!

Cheers to you all from Dools
