Hey everyone and thank you. His birthday is today and we went out adventuring. Having our first family snow experience this weekend (we live in a town that isn’t in lockdown, we’ve actually had no cases here at all which is awesome because it’s full of old people) Anyway, totally off topic.
Heading up to the snow this weekend, the three of us. We will probably spent most of the time around the fire but nice to get away.

We are all doing well CMF, H is going to back to work shortly so I’ll be a busy WFH/stay at home dad

    Hello Jackson...

Im popping in to wish your beautiful son a happy first birthday....Doesn’t the time go so fast...

My town also hasn’t had a COVID as yet, the local council did put us all in lock down with the rest of Australia...

I hope you all enjoy your day and you all have a good time, happy memories with your sons big 1st birthday..

    Grandy..

Thanks Grandy! We have been so lucky here. We were put into lockdown when the whole of Australia was but round 2 in Victoria we have been ok, like I said, older demographic, stay inside a lot anyway. But I’m making sure we check in on neighbours etc as they might not be getting many visitors. We had leftover cannelloni and instead of freezing we gave to some people in our street

We had a great day, all very tired but we have one very little man

Thank you Grandy, we had a beautiful weekend. We loved our time in the snow, we didn’t spend too much time out there because it was obviously very cold, but we had fun. Will had a ball.

Stage 4 for us, No idea what will happen with work.

Sorry about H's job, just goes round and round.

Maybe you need masks with tv characters that W likes 🙂

    Stay safe x

We are trying not to go out, we are in lockdown after all, but we enjoy our evening walks and visits to the beach. H is very crafty is trying to source some material to make us some kid friendly looking ones. I guess, as a 1 year old when dad puts a black mask and a beanie on, it’s quite terrifying. H thinks she might have some may Gibbs gumnut baby fabric.

H made bluey masks, I have one very talented and very clever partner here.
Lockdown started at 11:59 last night.
Doesn’t quite feel lockdowny yet... Maybe because we’ve done it before, and to be honest we still had kind of strict restrictions so not much has really changed. Disappointing for H and her work, nice to have her home but they just reopened, small business, they will find it really tough second time around, I hope they can pull through. The novelty of Zoom has worn off for both our clients and teams.
W still sits with me while I work sometimes though. He will sit on the desk or on my lap with a toy if I’m not in meetings, or if I’m in meetings he’ll scream at the door for me to let him in. Trying to spend the less concentraty time of my day out sitting at the table or bench with the rest of the family. We have had some horrid weather here, rain, hail it even snowed not far from us, so we haven’t been able to take him out much.
I can still make my surfboards at home, doing contact less pick up/drop off with little notes of what people think they need repaired and then I go over the board and check it myself. We can still meet out doors so for some customers we have met at the park on the other side of our street. I’m doing what I can, legally, to make sure I can actually meet with customers if they want to, especially if they are wanting a custom board made, or would like me to explain the repair process. I’m not a fan of just fixing. I want to fix and explain what I have done and maybe how the problem could have happened if they owner isn’t sure. I don’t think it’s good business to drop things and run, you should spend time explaining things to them, but that’s just me.

Thanks Grandy, didn’t catch much but nice to get out, just a friend and I, which are still allowed to do which is nice, I was going to go out solo but I have never launched on my own, I was bit unsure.

Yeah, nice to have some boards done and see some happy customers... It takes me while a while from concept to hand over so I will be busy between work, board shaping and general life... W keeps us very busy.

Board shaping is definitely keeping me busy alongside normal life things...lots of boards in the hands of happy customers, getting some really good feedback too, and thinking up ways to be even better and offer the most to my customers

Today I saw my parents for the first time in months and they got to spend time with W, some actual time with him, they have only had one or two small pockets of time with since March, we are all still in lockdown but the universe worked out for us all today and everyone will go to sleep happy tonight.

I got a bit of a life update and this is a pretty huge one I’m not sure if anyone will read this but about 4 years ago I was involved in a crowd crush at a music festival, I was transported to hospital and treated for leg injuries which to this day I still have issues with, but manageable, but during the entire incident, I was well, crushed, and theRes a link between that incident and my head being stomped on etc etc with my tendencies to have these strange old fits, means I am now likely to get a sum from a huge payout from people affected by this, there is about 70 people who will get a payout of some sort. The money will allow me to get any treatment I need for these to stop happening and deal with some of the mental pain caused by it.

    Jackson

I often read your posts as others do but don’t post.

That is awful about your injury but good news about the payment. I hope it is enough for treatment to help you.

Hopefully that will give you peace of mind.

Thanks to both of you. I am very lucky that as it could have been worse, there are people still very very injured and unwell, I have been able to continue to do the things I love, but definitely living with something I wouldn’t have if I wasn’t in the wrong place at the wrong time. Initially I wasn’t going to be part of the class action but as this seems to be a bit of a battle for me I went ahead. I will never set foot in a music festival or crowed like that every again, I can’t even think about that night I can almost feel it happening all over again, so scary, it was me and my gf at the time, we got seperated and I later found out she had a broken arm

I wanted to share some news with you guys and it’s a little left of centre, so just yeah... Hannah and my Mum both told me it’s a stupid idea. But I’m going to go for it, I’m actually spending a lot of time working on this motivational speaking, mindfulness, wellbeing kind of program and it all kind of relates back to my surfing and shaping boards. I feel like I have a lot to offer people, I have a lot of life experience and I have a lot to offer people I reckon, I’m kind of sick of being a little straight laced and working for someone kind of person, my whole life it’s kind of been about eating coin and possessions, not directed at my parents but the community I grew up in was very focussed on material stuff, and that’s also why we got out of Melbourne, I just want to help people now, and in my role I don’t really get that, I lead people that help other people. I’ve just been thinking about and really investing a lot of thought into it but I also have to be realistic with will what feed my family, and it’s a tough unreliable gig so maybe I can do both, but I think I just want to be my authentic self and help others be their authentic selves, and unfortunately sitting in an office (or at home, rather) with a nice shirt on isn’t fulfilling that, it’s not really fulfilling me either. If I can use my life experience to make other people challenge themselves why wouldn’t I

    Hey Jackson,

Firstly, i'm glad you are being compensated for that awful incident. The thought of it makes me cringe, how scary it must have been.

Secondly, i love the new venture you are contemplating. I know how you feel, wanting to do more for others. You have a wealth of life experience at your fingertips. I totally understand not being interested in material things. Sounds like my partner's sis this year, spending up big time and all over social media to show it off. Not my thing. I wish i could come work for you lol.

If you want to make it happen, you will. Manifest it, believe it is already happening and it will.

Hope you and the family are all well.

It was terrifying and I don’t think I will ever set foot in a crowd like environment like that again, a New Years Eve never forgotten, if you have seen the news over the last week or so you’d probably know the incident I am talking about.

Yeah, I think the foundations are there, the purpose and what I want to do, just a bit of work too, but yeah I don’t thinkwhat I’m doing right now in my job is hitting the spot.

Today I took W onto my stand up paddle board along the flat river bank with H in the kayak next to us for extra safety (we all had life jackets on), what a moment!
