No one gossiped about me and in the work environment I would nip it in the bud if it was about others. I had a nurturing side to me and in my position was in charge of my shift.

I was made well aware of someone spreading gossip about me when I was really unwell.,I don’t how they found out. I ran across the same person at the dentist, she said “,we must catch up for coffee” I treated her with the contempt she deserves. Unfortunately my work environment thrived on gossip. I was not a participant.

Hi All I saw my psych yesterday. He wants to up my antidepressant. When I told my partner that I'd been feeling flat for the past few weeks and that he wanted to up my meds he said that how I feel is normal. I asked my psych if my expectations were realistic. I don't expect to be on a euphoric high everyday but I don't want to feel low either. I'm not sure if I know what normal is. I'm confused. Should I do what my psych recommends?

Lisa, psychs are the experts. Medication is such an individual thing. I’d definitely be guided by him/her. Sometimes it takes a while to notice a change;swing in mood. These are natural responses. We have a chemical imbalance and the meds pay a part in making things right.
You’ve been through a lot and remember to be kind to yourself.

    Lisa

I often ask what my normal is and for me it was having moods. After finding the first medication I tried stabilised me, the me now and for past 30 years is being stable. I have had partners friends and family that “ I am not

    much fun anymore”.
Maybe I am not much fun but I am not doing risk taking that could have led me to do unlawful things and I am not have not had the darkest of depressions.

I am not much fun now but I have my moments, This is me .

If you trust your psych let them know how you feel and your concerns.

Been an interesting week. Cold week. Confronting week.

Gossip in my workplace is the privilege of the hierarchy. They can gossip, others can't. They can do & say as they please. Others can't.

The extreme toxicity and unhealthy workplace has reached combustion point. An event last week has shaken us underlings. We are angry and fed up. The injustices and corruption needs to be brought to light.

Statutory bodies are being consulted in due course.

    Enough is enough.

I can't really explain due to the triggering nature.

I said this year is it. It's started. Not before time either.

    Velvet

it is so difficult for people to work in such a workplace. I hope finally justice and fairness will prevail there without it being a prolonged procedure.

Is your supportive boss helping you.

    Supportive boss doesn't know yet.

I didn't start this process. Another colleague did after hearing about someone else.

Honestly this needs to be seen through. Then we either stay because changes have been made or we leave.

The powers that be have got away with too much for too long.

They actually don't really bully me much anymore since I stood right up to them many years ago. They learnt then that I know my way around laws and policies and gathering evidence.

So that's my role in this maybe. Its going to be a team effort. The safety reps are spearheading it.

I have a manager at the moment asking me to work for her knowing I'm already working in 2 other areas under 2 other managers those days. She also left them off the email. Nice try. **forward** and "no".

Be lots of lollies at a kids party...mmmmmm lollies.

    I ate crackers in bed.

Had good day. Dog behaviourist and trainer popped over to assess progress. Super good. Positive. Amazing.

I even think he was sussing me out for taking on some of the clients / work for behaviour consults.

    Food for thought.........

However if fuel costs keep sky-rocketing and next year my public transport options become 3hrs commute one way, I'm going to be unemployed.

I won't be able to afford to go to work, or basically survive on 5hrs sleep a day.

This is absolutely disgusting what this world is coming to.

Good to see the excise cut helped for 2 weeks. We KNOW that's not the issue.

If this goes this way I'll absolutely lose everything I worked so hard for, while unemployed by choice people get things thrown at them. I'm so angry.

Oh Velvet. Sending virtual hugs. I saw someone else post on Instagram about the rising cost of living; food, fuel, insurances. I wish I had a pot of gold and I could share it around.

I’ve done too much today. It doesn’t serve me well to run around. Did all the bedding need washing? Not really. Did I need to make homemade muffins? Nope. Now a I have to clean up the kitchen mess. Why do we do this to ourselves?

Hello everyone, velvet I feel ashamed we live in a country that makes it impossible for Z hard worker to earn enough moneybto travel to work by car and to be able by the necessities of life.
    it seems absurd.

It's pure greed run by the upper 2% wealthy people. Because you know, they need more money. I'm disgusted by so much today. I truly hope there is a stock market crash like we saw in the 1920s. Might even the playing field a bit then.

Using super to purchase a home? Yep. Ok. Watch the prices inflate even further just like the large first home owners grant for building prompted a couple years ago and funny how many companies are now in liquidation and the money has gone. Corruption. These homes that will be sold this time, in theory, are probably on the portfolios of these politicians. Oh look again more self serving greed.

I will share a laugh ehhehehe. Tried to make arancini balls. They're arancini flats.

Keeping my eyes open for any reasonable job closer to home now to prepare. Well I will be toward the end of the year because by then I'll know about restructure at work.

I really like the idea of diversification, but I need time to see if I can think of a way I can diversify. I have a narrow range of skills.

That's the idea of diversifying... gaining new and applicable skills.

What I am looking at will be completely different to what I do now.

Hi All...I decided to do what the psych said and have upped the antidepressant. I'm now on 2 different ones. I was worried about serotonin syndrome but I've had no sign of it.

Diversification is good. If you can transfer your skills then it broadens your prospects.

One minute I'm good enough to ask to do 3 jobs at once.. when I say no then I'm not good enough to do jobs I've been doing for 15yrs.

This is the psychological abuse my work dishes out daily.

This is why one staff member, friend and colleague of 15yrs attempted the ultimate of escape.

    Hey velvetfaerie,

Hope you don't mind us popping in here. We just wanted to check in as it sounds like a difficult situation. If you would like some more immediate support, or are concerned a colleague may be at risk of suicide and would like some advice, you can call our Support Service on 1300 22 4636.

There's some tips for having the conversation with someone you're worried about here. There're also a few resources on the Heads Up website, Beyond Blue's space for mentally healthy workplaces, here.

Thanks for sharing what's going on, velvet. We hope you're ok.

Fitness watches are great for capturing a massive anxiety attack I had today.

I'm glad I see my psychologist tomorrow. I was triggered by a person being a liar and underhanded self serving so and so. I don't want to work with her. She's fake. She's dangerous.

    Like my ex.

Ah I had a big sleep which helped. Still tired but I am ok.

Our working year hasn't really kicked off yet. It starts next week.

Example - one location functions on 4 to 6 staff a day during the peak. They / we have 2.5 people. Reckless and disgusting expectations from our employer.
