Medication experiences (for anxiety)

Hi,
I'd like to know people's experience with medication, how it's helped, side effects, howany you've had to try before you found the right fit and your experience on them and how that's helped or not helped with your anxiety.

Right now I dont want to go on medication because my previous experience was very terrible, but if things don't improve I think I might need to and I want to be better informed before I do.

I will also discuss this with my doctor when and if the time comes.

Hi YellowPoppy,

I understand not wanting to go on medication, I remember the very first medication i was put onto. It was horrible I had many side effects and at first I didn't want to go through that again. I am now currently trying my 4th Medication. So far no side effects and the people around me have noticed a difference in my day to day life. I still have my bad days but they have become less and less.

I know many people who have had to go through many different medications before finding the one for them. They have been on them for years now with no problems. Every ones experience with medication will be different.

Hi ImLost,

I appreciate the response.
Glad this medication is working out for you and if I need to go on medication I hope I don't have any side effects

Hi YellowPoppy,

Thanks for your post.

Hm, well for me I had lots of side effects too. Some were worse than others. Usually the guideline is to try and ride out your medication for 4-6 weeks so it's in your bloodstream, but not everyone is able to do that unfortunately.

I am currently on some medication for both my anxiety and depression and I don't experience any side effects with these. So while it was a bit of trial and error, I am glad that I did it.

One of the things you can do when you're starting a new medication is to find out all the information before you start about what side effects are common/more likely. While a lot of them will have side effects, they won't all last. I also requested the smallest dose possible (i.e. 5mg rather than the standard therapeutic dose of 10mg), and then looked to see if I could even cut that pill in half. It might sound a little far fetched, but my Doctor's were totally okay with it and I found it helped significantly.

Best of luck,

Hi!

Thanks so much for your post. I'm really hoping I can't get past this and that I won't need them but I still want to hear about this to ease myself
