    Dear Geoff

I quite agree with everything you say in your post. If I miss someone it's probably either a failing in me, for which I unreservedly apologize, or due to circumstances beyong my control.

20 years is more than an impressive feat, it show true dedication

    Regards

    Croix

A Champions platform that has pop up notifications of when someone has replied to a post. I sometimes miss responding to posts because I dont get a notification to respond back. Or if the notifications go directly to email so we know that we need to log into the forums to reply to somone. Sometimes life can be busy and I forget to delegate time to the forum, so notifications can prompt more frequent log ins.

Hello Positive_vibes, agree and this is something we have been wanting for a long time.

It would be interesting to know what's done when the site is 'under maintenance'.

Hi Everyone, I just wonder whether the OP is unable to tick a reply they have just made themselves, that is 'Mark this post as helpful' and just leave it to others to tick.

I also think a reminder that says. .........."hello we have missed you in the forums. You have not logged in for X amount of days." I sometimes dont even log in for a few days, a email prompting reminder would be useful just to log in and respond to some posts.

    Hi Positive-Vibes89

I found your suggestion really interesting, from the perspective of how different we all are.

If I got an email like the one you described I would feel uneasy, like I’m being monitored, and then I would feel pressured.

Not saying it’s not a great idea for some. But illustrates just how hard it is for bb to meet all the legitimate, yet sometimes competing, needs of the community.

    Kind thoughts to you

    Hi Everyone!

Hey PostiveV....Welcome to the forums! and thankyou for helping people help themselves with your experience

PVibes mentioned 'I sometimes miss responding to posts because I dont get a notification to respond back' This is a important point that would assist in the long term growth of the forums. Beyond Blue are aware of the benefits of members being notified as you posted above

In the meantime we have our 'My Threads' header where we can check for any replies until the new forum platform is announced

    my kindest

    Hi Geoff

you mentioned 'It would be interesting to know what's done when the site is 'under maintenance'

Even though our current platform is dated it is still a national forum with a huge increase in activity (hits) after covid started in 2020. The system requires maintenance to provide ongoing stability/performance

    I hope this helps

Hi Paul, thanks for your reply and understand exactly what you've said, so thank you.

I agree that it's a national forum and that now the hits would have vastly increased since this pandemic developed, that is Covid, and realise many different problems may surface that require attention.

Please, everybody, look after yourself and this includes you, Paul.

    Take care.

    Geoff.

Hello Croix, thank you so much for your compliment, and as you have said, ' 20 years is more than an impressive feat, it shows true dedication' and although this may seem to be a long time, every day is completely different from the day before, that's why I've been on here for so long.

There are many threads, comments and/or replies that I can link back to what I've been through myself and feel that a reply is needed to try and help this person understand that help will certainly benefit them through this time.

I have to apologise to those who have wanted me to reply back to them, but for some reason, I have not seen their comment, as I've been busy elsewhere, that's my fault and will endeavour not to miss out on getting back to them.

Please look after yourselves and thank you again Croix.

    Geoff.

Hello Positive_vibes, I absolutely agree with what you've said, 'an email prompting reminder would be useful just to log in and respond to some posts' and I do recall this happening at one stage, probably years ago, where I did receive an email saying that someone had replied to me, but it only happened a couple of times, but it certainly is a fabulous idea, then that particular person waiting for a reply won't be disappointed because they have been able to connect with what you have mentioned.

    Thanks, Positive_vibes for suggesting this.

    Geoff.

    Hello Project Team,

I made a little mistake that potentially could cause misunderstanding & confusion. So, I have a suggestion, for a future upgrade. (personally sooner rather than later).

A Glossary of Terms & Abbreviations in Common Use on The Forums & across this website.

I think it would be of use to have a place where the terms we use are explained. Good for people who've never had occasion to take an interest before, newly diagnosed people who want to understand what the diagnosis means, & for family & friends, carers, etcetera, for their own education & understanding.

I haven't found a thread for that, but I think, it ought to be on top, in the menu somewhere, rather than beneath a layer or two of forum topics.

Thank you for considering my suggestion.

    mmMekitty

    Hi all,

Re getting emails when someone replies, I'm okay without that, but I can understand some may appreciate it.

I also wander, beyond the crisesacheck in email, I wander if there cukd be just a ageneral way to check in with someone if they say they are feeling unsafe, abruptly leave the forum or get visibly distressed when they post, might make things feel a bit more personal....

    Dear Harpbird~

I have been thinking about your suggestion of private messaging here on the Forum. You may be right however I do have a couple of reservations:

Each message would still have to be moderated like all the rest, it is how this place remains safe for everyone. Not impossible but maybe more load on the moderators.

The thing that really worries me is that the Support Forum is here to support everyone, and all posts are visible to everyone - you can even Google them.

The idea is that it gives people information, hope, comfort and companionship, which PMs hidden out of sight would not do. It might be worthwhile to remember that for every person that posts, there are very many who never do, but gain nevertheless by being able to read all that is here.

    What do you reckon?

Would that also extend to the CC private forum? - PM by any other name perhaps...

    Moderation
I wonder why it is necessary to send a notification when a post is under consideration - particularly when it makes no reference to the post in question...
It would seem more prudent to attach a 'pending' flag to MyThreads (perhaps a star or question mark) which can be identified immediately as being received but unconfirmed. A follow up tick or cross could advise outcome without the accompanying "if you are in any distress..." dialog which actually leaves me feeling like I have done something wrong!
This would also assist 'heavy traffic' situations where posters wonder if what they have sent has actually reached its destination or just become lost into the ether.

    Hello all

I'm not for message privately, I think it night be hard to keep it safe.

I think there should be a level below sophie ms and official moderators, peers who can let's say sign up to help with moderation.

Then if someone gets upset, or there is something offensive said, that person would be able to email the users affected.

It would be more meaningful I think, then getting an email from an anonymous "moderator" generically saying to hope Ur OK, because that email is, like or not, from someone above u, a clinician, and its not so trauma sensitive that they send these emails.

It still feels like an act of power of clinical over the user.

I think maybe some users should be able to lightly moderate, including emailing users in distress or those maybe getting lost in the forums or accidentally braking the rules.

    Dear Sleepy21,

Thank you for your feedback. You've made some great suggestions.

We're sorry to hear that emails from moderators feel like an act of power over you. We just wanted to reach out and say that is not our intention at all.

Thank you again for your suggestions, and feel free to provide further feedback in this thread, or through our website (https://www.beyondblue.org.au/about-us/contact-us).

    Hi tranzcrybe!

Thankyou for mentioning..'Would that also extend to the CC private forum? - PM by any other name perhaps...'

I did post to you just after you posted and unfortunately it has vaporised!...I dont know how...

Private messaging has been considered at senior level for a while now for CC's yet the forums would require a total revamp to make that happen. Just from my own experience as a volunteer...I dont think it would work as it may defeat the purpose of the peer support structure that is currently in place

Happy Christmas tranzcrybe :-) always great to have you on the forums

    Paul

I would appreciate a more direct way to alert staff to anyone posting content which indicates they may be in need of immediate assistance, from either yourselves or emergy services. While my post, written mostly to bring the previous post to the attention of moderators, is itself being moderated, someone in need of assistance won't be getting it.

& the algorithms take the content of my post out of context, & you send up sending me emails when I use certain words in my post to alert to the one I'm responding to...do you understand what I'm saying?

Hello mmMekitty, I know what you're saying and it's always good we are looking out for people we think are in trouble, so there are 2 ways to notify the moderators, you can click on 'report the post' and mention all your concerns or you can email them by using 'Modsupport@beyondblue.org.au' and also express your concerns.

It's good you are looking out for comments that worry you, that's being part of the family, so thank you.

    My best.

Does anyone know if there is a way that a particular forum you have left a response on can be unpinned if you no longer want to be involved in that forum.

Thanks (I hope this makes sense)

    Hi mmMekitty,

    Sorry for the belated response!

Thank you for raising this concern with us. We can see why it is a concern that your supportive post was not made immediately available to a user who may be at risk of harm. It also adds stress onto you who may feel concerned about the user’s comments and would like to know that they have received support.

It appears your post got caught in the system (wasn’t made immediately public) due to containing “risky” words itself. Which as you’ve pointed out, was the system reading your post out of context.

Ideally, the user’s post should’ve been attended to earlier and your post made public sooner, however, this cannot always be guaranteed. As other members have mentioned, a few ways to get the attention of moderators is by reporting a post and emailing modsupport@beyondblue.org.au

If there is a post you’re concerned about and feel needs the immediate attention of moderators, we would suggest using the “Report Post” function (which we believe is in the top right corner of all posts in red text). In this report, please feel free to let us know if you think we may have missed something (which we regrettably do).

For more substantial requests and concerns, it may be better to direct an email to modsupport@beyondblue.org.au but either method of contact is appropriate.

Thank you again for sharing your concerns and we do really appreciate your dedication and investment in the forum community.
