    Hi everyone!

Hey Quirky, thankyou heaps for the help you provided a few weeks ago re a family member with Bipolar. I called the Blackdog people and they were really good to talk to :-)

They did mention what you did that symptoms do vary (like generalized anxiety disorder) yet they also mentioned that frequent ongoing counselling is required to find some balance with the levels of mania that are involved with Bipolar to function effectively and minimize mood issues/symptoms etc

I will be better equipped supporting my family member thanks to you replying Quirky...Nice1

    my kind thoughts......Paul

Everyone at home is irritable, because halloween is canceled my niece has become antagonistic towards us all. She is on fire with anger and the only person who can tolerate her is my husband. They had an argument that although bitter made them both smirk.

Her dad doesn't want to further upset her and so we are meant to just wait this episode out. The stress has triggered me and my need to clean is high. Now I'm even second guessing getting a retired greyhound, will this stressful house be cruelty to such a dog.

Gwad I just remembered the niece came in our bedroom last night and asked my husband to have a paternity test- she thinks he could be her dad and her second suspicion is that Papa is her father. She doesn't want comforting she just wants to rage and crap all over us.

I am sorry things are so stressful at your home.
One would hope the dog would help you cope but I can understand you worrying on the effect on the dog.

It is an awful situation for you so I hope this episode does not last long for everyones sake.

As if you don’t have enough to cope with.
    Kind thoughts

I am so sorry to hear this Wail.

Teenage rage or is there more to this you suspect?

Greyhounds are lovely doggos. Sensitive doggos.

Maybe wait it out and see how it goes for now. It's always hard in these situations.

The chick who is in charge of my doggos welfare. Zero practical experience. 25 years old. Manager at a fast food place. This automatically makes her more knowledgeable than a person with 3 relevant quals and 20 years practical experience.

She won't come see the dog. Too far. It's a 30min drive. I'm driving 45 mins one way for his vet visit. I offered to help her get over her fear of this dog. She said she's met him a few times. Yeh when walking distance away. Also you've not seen his progress yourself.

This is only for her resume.

Seriously. I've bitten my tongue for 5 weeks and I'm about done with this chick.

    You guys know the type?

Similar generation maybe of the young people / relatives you guys handle? Self serving. Manipulative. Only their needs matter. No compromise.

    Fun. Not.

Velvet how awful to have such inexperience at the wheel. Is it even possible to prove such a person wrong or uninformed or ignorant. Somedays are just so hard to bear.

Quirky my niece had a long rant at me and when she came close I noticed her pupils are large and her eyes have that maniacal twinkle. Huge hot tears that I could not stop ran down my face. Sure we need this confirmed. This is like a worst case scenario and I'm a bit shocked.

The person in charge if your digs welfare seems quite selfish. I don’t get people who only think of their needs. Mind you always putting others first has not really worked for me!!!

wail I thought about bipolar . I was a horrible 16 year old who caused my parents much drama. I hope your niece does not go into the denial I did when diagnosed.

I've tried to guide this girl in a nice way but it's not working. So I'm going to let her come undone. I have it all in writing anyway. She's very self serving and is the welfare coordinator. She's only concerned about her own welfare.

Bipolar eyes or illicit drug use? I haven't seen the bipolar eyes because... well..... that was wrong for me haha.

We have seen her facebook and so with her fathers' permission I am taking niece to ER, she has sandwich bags containing hers, my husbands and Papas' hair- she thinks we are getting a paternity test. I really hope this is a drug induced psychosis at least that is curable.

Get some of her hair as well to confirm paternity......and check for illicit drug use. It will cost you but might be worth it. Hair stores the markers for a lot longer than other tests.

best of luck and thinking of you

We didn't go for a paternity test and when she realized it was a psych evaluation for a moment she thought that I was unwell, and she seemed concerned. But things went very bad as she understood the real situation. She physically assaulted me and the staff. When her dad arrived she was sedated and waiting for admission.

She has a long way to go now, the stuff about paternity- it might be her mind trying to reinvent the past to redeem her mothers' character. Because its a hard thing to accept that her mum left when she was two.

Personally I don't know if I have the emotional strength required to help her. I know its happening but I just want it to stop. I feel that it will be to much if I am expected to support her and that is the awful truth.

That is so so sad and exhausting for you.
You have been so supportive but you have insight as to what you can cope with. Hopefully there will be enough support from medical and within the community to help her.
I really feel for you as you are such a compassionate person and this is a difficult situation.

I hope you managed some sleep.

Aries your dog looks wider every day like you.

The weather here is very. Hanger le, I get ready to go out because it is sunny and calm by the time I reach the front gate it is pouring and windy. I tried to venture out 4 times till I gave up as I was cold and soaking wet even with a heavy waterproof parka.

Thankyou all for understanding the pressures put on family when mental health issues happen. Last night before I came home I filled out an incident report at the cop shop. This morning the family found out when a copper called around, so I am in the bad books. She is not being charged, I just registered the violent incident.

My husband came home early to go visit his niece and Papa had me buy her favorite macaroons, they are willing to spoil her. I think she needs a reality check before she gets out of hand. My husband called me a cold $lavic bitsh who never wanted kids. Tell me was I wrong? just look at the mess were in.

Sorry that my family is so troubled I think I am dehydrating from the big soppy tears that can't stop flowing.

I hope you are all doing well with your health and that your families are ok, thankyou so much for being kind.

I feel my brain is losing its way as I seem more and more to be unable to think of everyday words, and I forget peoples names more than in the past and I start a sentence and then cant finish it and not onlt have I lost my train of thought the train maybe was never there.

I see 85 year olds who have better memories than me.

    Still like your picture Aries.

They reward her bad behaviour. This is one reason it's continuing and escalating. How can they not see this?

Plus underlying MH diagnosis tba I guess?

I am a firm believer in karma.........

I am so sorry for your broken nose and hope it heals. It is sad that no one in your fami,y understands how you are supporting everyone and how draining that is for you.
I am sending a hug to you and hope you can rest .

You deserve kindness because you care for all members of you family and it would be nice if someone cared for you.

Oh Wail, my heart is breaking for you. Reading through this story, like Velvet I was thinking BP and yourself. The Bipolar eyes, yep. I’ve looked in the mirror or back to photos before having a big dip into depression and I can see it. Huge pupils. I’ve cried to myself and said I would never wish this on my worst enemy. Yet, this cruel beast is passed on in families. I’ve also thought you could use Bipolar in wars. It crushes people. It does more than that but I don’t want to get banned.

Wail, ouch re: broken nose. Smart idea, hiding the knife block. I hope niece gets the help she needs. Most importantly I hope the family sees that you are being a champion, keeping the family together and not overreacting to her behaviour. That my friend is worthy of something amazing. Sending strength to Airies, Velvet, Quirky, Dng and others reading along.

Wail, I feel for you.Your niece obviously needs some help. Take care look after yourself as well. It’s a horrible thing we have. No quick fixes., no fixes at all. Somehow we manage.
Quirky ha ha I haven’t altered the pic but yes she is mirroring me.

A former friend of mine passes away suddenly. We mucked around as teens and into our thirties. He reappeared a number of years later, I was unwell and so was he. It got to a point where I banned him from visiting me in hospital and cut him out.

Even though we lost touch, it still floored me. The suddenness of it all and the manner of his passing. So I tried reaching out on FB to no avail

Aries shocking news about your mate, if I could I'd make you a cup of tea. Loss is so final and it dredges up all the emotions. I bet you two made good memories in your time together and that's what counts.

Asdff thankyou for understanding have you seen the movie Hacksaw Ridge, it is a true story and I swear the hero had mania, for he did a super human thing.

Quirky cheers another day in paradise, why do I hear Hawaiian music when I post you?

Velvet cheers let the good times roll and have the best weekend!

My niece is still unstable we have a social worker visit next week. I have decided to confess that she has hit me 5 times in 30 months and I have had enough.

Wail, you a such a giving person. Yes fond memories but I burned him for self preservation. Unfortunately ECT and my breakdowns have erased a lot. Funnily I joy have the ability to watch and rewatch a show with no recollection. I live in a constant source of irritation.

Wail, it take guts to step up and open up about the assaults. I’d made you a cup of tea and give you a hug. Hopefully the attacks will be a thing of the past,
