Yesterday I walked on the breakwall path in between heavy episodes of rainfall.

Before then I was planning to walk with my sister on the beach. But that did not happen. As soon as we were about to step onto the sand, we heard a huge noise of thunder and lightning was in the sky. Then it pelted down with rain. I do like rain, but we both were not keen to walk on the open beach while lightening was happening. (welcome to the humid aussie summer weather) Anyway we made a dash to the picnic shelter. And chatted for a while. A stream of water was rolling down under the table. We decided to make a run for it up the hill to her car. I found myself running through larger streams of water, sloshy grass, concrete steps and the carpark with no shoes on. It definitely was not boring at all. It was quite a storm. So I guess I did a bit of exercise there with the running up to the car.

Today I rode the exercise bike in the garage for 15 minutes. And tonight walked around the block.

Yesterday I walked twice to the chemist as there was a problem with the script so had to get the GP to sort it out before picking up the script. Today I was going to walk with a friend but she couldn't come. I did housework and then had a telehealth appt for my hsb. I was a bit stressed after so didn't feel like doing much. I'm struggling with depression and fatigue so not walking as much as I should.

I went walking out on the Breakwall Path today. It was super windy with the rain blowing on an angle. Blowing right into my face. I pulled the waterproof hood on my jacket out from my head and down to cover some of my face (if that makes any sense) I was unable to walk to the very end today because I could see ahead huge waves splashing right over the concrete wall itself and onto the path . Looked a bit dangerous. So I just looked at it for a bit. Turned around and headed back. I still liked the walk though.

Walked on the breakwall again. Still unable to walk right to the end as the waves were splashing over to high and forceful

    Hi Shelll, Elizabeth and All,

I went out for a walk just before the sunrise. The sky was almost cloudless with a slight tinge of pink and orange on the horizon.

Two kangaroos surprised me in the crop right across the road from our home. Further along I saw another kangaroo. A couple of magpies looked like they might be intent on swooping me, so I stood still, watched them fly in circles above me and talked to them as the landed in a gum tree near me.

A couple of galahs were on the branch of a dead tree, their pink feathers glowing in the early morning light. I waved to the school bust driver and wondered what children he was picking up at that time in the morning and which school they would be taken to. Our town does not have a high school, only a small regional primary school.

While out walking I tried to be observant. I tried to drown out the negative thoughts. It kind of worked!

Yeah you were pretty observant Mrs D... But it is challenging sometimes when other troubling thoughts speak so loud in our heads or emotions speak so loud too.

The early morning walks you go on do sound beautiful. Maybe not the dusty blowing trucks though. Maybe there can be beauty found in that.

    Hi Shelll,

I will say some of the truck drivers are wonderful and slow right down. When I hear a car or truck approaching on a dirt road, I try to gauge the direction of the wind and head over the other side of the road if there will be less dust there, depending on where the wind is blowing and if it is safe to do so.

This morning I am cooling the house down, I've opened doors and windows and have as yet not found the enthusiasm for a walk! Maybe a bit later or this evening. It is not going to be quite as hot today as yesterday.

Maybe I should put me shoes on and go for a walk!

So nice having fresh air flowing through the house isn't it.

Yeah I would encourage you to just go for a walk if you can. Sometimes the enthusiasm just isn't there I know. But truly it is a good thing to move if you physically can. Often I will feel thankful afterwards.

I am talking to myself at the moment as well. As I am just laying here sort of feeling discouraged and parts of me feels like giving up. I am so much struggling with comfort eating. It makes me feel like a slug, so lethargic. And it does make it more challenging to walk when I am like this.

Anyways Mrs D...Have a good day

    Hi Shelll,

I did push myself out for a walk. I sort of enjoyed it. My mind is doing the disconnection/dissociate thing where it is sometimes hard for me to remember if I have actually done something or not as it just doesn't feel real.

As covid hot spots are popping up all over Adelaide now, I made a trip to the city to try and buy some items I needed before it is unsafe to go there. I went, I walked, I wandered I bought little. I came home, parked the car and wondered if I was actually leaving or arriving home!

I might go for a walk later. I spotted some more trees and bushes that have collapsed in the garden so I will get the hand saw out and see how much I can cut back.

My sister sent a message if I want to go walking today. I do but I told her I don't.

It's a challenge to know what to say Mrs D. But wondering if all the stress you have been under at work etc triggers the unrealness.

Anyway it is good you went out walking

Went for a walk our there again. See a dog with skinny little legs wearing a yellow raincoat. It was jumping around. Pretty cute.

Feel far away and still tired today. Glad I walked to the end and back. Thankful I am still moving.

    Hi Shelll and All reading,

Yes Shelll I am very much aware of how much I allow work to affect me some days. It is going to become increasingly busier leading up to Christmas. New Covid Rules are just going to add to the pressure.

This morning I went for a walk to help clear my mind before work again later today. The wheat crops have all dried out, in one place they cover a low hill and look like a pale faded yellow ocean as the wind blows over it.

The canola crop has been harvested. There were galahs, parrots and other birds looking for food in the paddock, they flew off when I approached, the galahs were screeching in their loud manner.

The road was relatively quiet of traffic. I could hear the wind rustling in the wild oats growing on the sides of the road. I saw a butterfly and a few bees.

It felt good to have been out for a walk. The breeze was cool and refreshing.

Thinking of you Shelll and thanks for all your encouragement, cheer all from Dools

    i Shelll,

I went on the same walk again this morning and saw a kangaroo in one of the paddocks in the distance. There was a little more colour in the sky today.

I'm not sure if you can eat the wild oats or not! I would have to Google that. As I have Coeliac disease and can not eat normal oats, I would also have to check their gluten levels. Good question though. There are millions of them growing in our region and are well over a metre high. Quite the fire risk.

Tomorrow I may walk along a different road in our town I seem to have been sticking to the two roads closest to us lately.

Yesterday I found work to be very stressful. I wanted a walk but it was too hot so I went to the supermarket which has few people that time of day and wandered up and down the isles looking at stuff. The bright coloured packaging, nice displays of fruit and veg, Christmas goodies and items in the freezer department I never look at usually helped ease the stress of the day.

An added bonus was some gluten free ice cream to go with the gluten free cones I bought a while ago. A lovely treat after dinner.

Cheers to you and all reading from Dools

Last night I walked with my son around and around our neighbourhood. Properly for about 1 and half hours. I was feeling quite tired. But super glad I decided to go. We ended up looking at the Christmas lights that people had put up on their homes, fences, trees etc.

There was one home that was a challenge to know where to look. So much happening there. There was a human sized santa on the two story verandah. Lights in close rows on the roof. A few blown up decorations. One blown up one was a tiny caravan with a Santa at the door. Plus their was so much more... Cannot even remember it all. They did have grass in the lawn, but you could hardly see it. Incredible amount of work in putting up all their lights.
It was kinda of refreshing walking out... There was a bit of a breeze. I think we set of dogs barking in 1 whole street. One barked at us, then more chimed in it seemed.

We looked at more houses with lights as we walked around

It can be good to wander around a supermarket. Especially on a hot day near the freezer section. Even better if there a only a few people.

Are you able to go swimming Mrs D, maybe just float for a while nice and calm in the water... Maybe to help with the stress and all?

    Hi Shelll,

I'm convincing myself a trip to the beach is going to be well worth the drive today!

I need to renew and pre pay my membership for the pool. Maybe I can do that on my way home from the beach!

This morning I took a cup of tea outside at 1/4 to 6 and watched the sun rise. Will save my energy for a walk on the beach later.

    All the best from Dools

    Hi Shelll and All,

I thought I had posted here about my walk on the beach. Maybe I am dreaming and just thought I had written about it. Maybe it has disappeared somehow?

Today I am catching up with my sister in the afternoon. We will be going for a walk in her region, maybe in a pine forest.

    Hello

I went walking through a small grassy park. Then crossed over the road and headed towards the yaght club. I didnt go into the club itself, just walked close to the lake around it. The carpark had a few cars, and also all these racks a couple of levels high. On the racks were boats. Like small tinnys (not sure if that is what they are called). But tiny boats anyway.

Later on I walked on a beach, I hardly ever walk on. Walked through the water some and got splashed by a wave. It felt nice and cool the water. I noticed there were quite a lot of shells on this beach. I didn't pick up any as I had nothing to carry them in. I was feeling pretty tired and sad but still glad I walked.

Yeah don't know what happened to your recount of your beach walk. Not to worry

    Hi Shelll,

My sister and I had a lovely walk again yesterday in a region close to where she lives. We wandered through a pine forest, and yes the smell was amazing. I picked up a collection of pine cones as well to put in a basket in the lounge room near the Christmas tree.

We wandered up and down little hills and walked through a section of native scrub as well. We disturbed a family of kangaroos, the male was huge! Further on we saw 3 emus. The soon disappeared into the tall wild oats.

Each corner gave us a different view. In one area the old pine trees had all been removed and young ones a metre high and less were growing. We could se the hills in the distance.

    It was a lovely walk.

Cheers to you and all reading.
