I've always found this to helpful at times when I feel lonely or unloved:

Love is a verb. The feeling of love comes from when you love someone.

Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.

Be kind to yourself today. Even if you are not where you thought you would be, you are still allowed to find peace in the beautiful reality that you are still on a journey, and you cannot measure yourself up against the miles you have not travelled yet.

Be kind to yourself, in a grace-filled, honest way, knowing no matter the things that have been far from perfect, you are growing at a steady pace.

Hi Narelle, sorry to read that you're feeling so fragile lately. University is a big undertaking, and you're doing well despite what you may feel. Please have some patience with yourself.

Birdy, Pepper, Rose and all other contributors here - thank you for your inspiring posts.

Here's another one for you all, and perhaps this one applies to you Narelle?

    Not everything is repairable.
    Sometimes it breaks.
    Breaks beyond saving.

    Let it crash,
let it lie where it falls.
    Let it be broken.

    Let it be.
    Let it be.

    Spiral out.
    Keep going.

    Keep going.

When everything seems way too hard, try to concentrate on 3 things:

    1. Get up
    2. Survive
    3. Go back to bed

Sometimes it is a major personal victory just to survive the day. Learn to celebrate that victory ... with the knowledge that things will not always be this difficult.

You will lose someone you can’t live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved.

But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn’t seal back up. And you come through. It’s like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly - that still hurts when it gets cold, but you learn to dance* with the limp.

    - Ann Lamont

*or walk...walking with a limp is okay too...

P.S. Music_Freak, it sounds like you could do with a hug. So if you’re okay with hugs, I’m going to offer one to you today xoxo

I’m so sorry about your mum, Music_Freak. You must miss her terribly...

I hope the next couple of quotes bring you (and anyone else who has lost a loved one) some small comfort.

It’s just fine to feel a little heavy, and it’s fine to just sit here and catch my breath, and it’s just fine to be a mess at times, and it’s fine to be relatively normal sometimes. It’s just fine to miss them. It’s just fine to let it all hit me, surrendering and succumbing.

And it’s just fine to remember that grief has no rules, and that it really, it will last as long as Love does.

    - unknown

Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give but cannot. All of that unspent love gathers up in the corner of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just Love with no place to go.

    - unknown

    Pepper xoxo

"Even if you fall on your face, you're still moving forward"

Basically, if things aren't working for you at the moment, trying new things and not succeeding isn't necessarily a bad thing. It is much worse to just give up and not attempt to move forward!
