Med withdrawal

Where is there support for medication withdrawal? I find a lot of doctors know very little about what to expect , advise including health direct that withdrawal symptoms will resolve quickly. Where is the adequate support and what are we doing to change that?

I wish I knew!!! I’m trying to withdraw from medication again, which is horrendous. I’m doing it sensibly but when I told my doctor she said because I have taken them for so long I should accept I need them as I have a chemical imbalance in my brain and even offered to up the dose. I told her I wanted to get off them regardless but the withdrawal symptoms were intense. She got mad and said that she’d told me before that they do not have withdrawal symptoms even though i’m Sitting there telling her i’ve Got them! My psychologist says while anti depressants can help you cope they are really only a bandaid. My doctor than told her off! WTF! I feel furious that there is no-one that can help me through this hell. There is a serious lack of support when it comes to mental health. If there is anyone out there that can help or suggest what to do this would be very welcome!
