Hi. This is my 1st post. For the past 3 years I've been helping myself cope, after being refused care many times.. I found out why my depression wasn't improving on anti depressants. And finally got a gp to change my medicine to better suit bipolar disorder , and ptsd. After 6 months I'm gradually stabilising. But I'm extremely disappointed in the health professionals for making my condition deteriorate so much.. I've introduced self maintenance ,including mind centering, interrupt my routines with deep bre staying, and have eliminated most triggers from my life style. I hope I'm welcome here, cause I'd like to contribute. Max.

    Hi OffMyTrain,

Welcome to the forums! I'm so grateful that you found us here and thought to join up. I'm really glad to hear that you have been in touch with your GP and are finding the right meds for you, but I'm sorry that you were refused care and that health professionals made things worse. We're always here if you want to share specifics, but in any case we welcome you to share your advice and perspective with others on the forums.

    Warmly,

    Gems

Thanks Gems, sometimes talking with people who have similar problems helps more. Also ,I try not to dwell on anything . And if a thought that triggers anxiety or feeling down, I've managed to train myself to right away ,shut it put as unimportant. Slowly my memory is coming back so I'm able to gradually rationalize things. Ptsd can block memories pretty badly. Cheers..max

    Hey OffMyTrain!

You are pretty courageous to share your story online! Like @uncut_gems said, I am so glad you did end up receiving the medical treatment you should have received in the first place!

You are most definitely welcome here, and I cannot wait to see what advice and tips you can give, especially with your experience in limiting triggers and improving mindfulness. That will be so helpful!

    Best,
    Wishes

So great to hear OffMyTrain. Sounds like Sept/Oct have been months with a lot of personal work on your part that are starting to pay dividends :) GPs are talented and wonderful for the most part, but they have to cover a lot of ground and many struggle with complex specialities like mental health. It's awesome you were able to find one with the proper training. I'm about to log off for the day and I love to end on a thread of someone who's got some good news to share.

    See you around the forums!

    Best,

    Gems

It's great to hear that you're continuing to do well OffMyTrain. Just remember that even if you have a bad day or stretch of days, it doesn't mean you're heading in the wrong direction or your progress is lost. Something I'm trying to remind myself of recently. Going to the beach certainly helps :)
