My step daughter is suffering from anxiety, PTSD and anorexia and I would really appreciate any information anyone could give me in starting to help her get treatment. Right at this moment she has severe anxiety and having heart problems due to being malnutritioned and dehydrate. I have only just become aware of this after two hospital visits in the last week. I know nothing about this and would appreciate any advice for immediate action and also long term that might help. Thank you in advance.

    Hi Moving Forward Happy,

Thank you for posting and sharing about the difficulties your daughter is going through.

The best first contact would be to our friends at the Butterfly national helpline on 1800 33 4673, or via email/webchat here: https://butterfly.org.au/get-support/helpline/. They are experts in supporting the carers and sufferers of eating disorders.

What sort of supports do you have for yourself during this difficult period of time?

If you would like to talk to someone about your experience as a carer we would recommend that you get in contact with the Beyond Blue Support Service. They are available 24/7 by phone on 1300 22 4636 or on Webchat 1pm-12am AEST on our website: www.beyondblue.org.au/getsupport  One of our friendly counsellors will be able to talk through these feelings with you and can offer support, advice and referrals.

Please feel free to keep reaching out here on your thread whenever you feel up to it.

    Hi Moving Forward Happy,

I'm sorry about your step daughter's challenge. I guess you've made some google research about anxiety, PTSD and anorexia, and knows the background of her illness and record of hospitalization. If I'm right then I would agree with Sophie, that you give BB hotline a call to get some professional guidance.

Hope your step daughter will get better and better.
