    I have had anxiety for about 12 months and have been on medication to help with panic attacks for approx 6mths.
    At the moment I am stuck in a rut of anxiety, panic and worry. I see a psychologist currently once a month normally although in this has come back to fortnightly this month. I have spent the last 2 weeks in a constant state of worry and nausea, I have good days in between but it seems few and far between good and bad days. I work full time and have to kids and a husband that really try hard to support me but I just fèel so guilty about what I am putting them through. Recently a feeling of being desperate and helpless has settled and I can't seem to shake it. The Dr increased my anti depressants 2 days ago so I am hoping for some relief soon. Just wanted to reach out for some advice or tips that might help me in the meantime. Thanks

    Hi Becwal

    Welcome to our community of warm, friendly, supportive and caring people. I am pleased you've reached out to us. To be honest, even though you feel you're stuck in a rut with anxiety, it does seem like you are doing lots of things to help yourself move out of this. It's okay to feel good about that.

    One of the major things I find with anxiety it is - no matter how much we work at managing it, it requires ongoing maintenance. Sometimes more than others. Does help you much though with how you're feeling at the moment. I do understand completely as I too have difficulties shaking off those feelings of desperation and helplessness. And like you I have increased my AD to help move me out of the rut. I've found it takes up to 4-6 weeks to take effect though. It sounds like you have the support of your family which is great. I'm sure they won't mind hanging in there for a few more weeks until you're feeling better. What do you think?

    Something else I've found is, when I get a bout of anxiety, something has triggered me. Has anything happened recently that might explain your recent feelings of being out of control?

    Thanks for the reply. Today is much better and I feel more like myself. I have started yoga and meditation again as this has helped previously. The other thing is trying to not get stuck in my own head!
