    Hi Cornerstone,

It does take some getting used to. Sing out if this doesn't help.

The first page of this thread is helpful. Scroll down and click on the grey arrows and that will take you to the first page of this thread where a moderator Sophie has kindly included pictures to help.

If at any time you want to return to the main screen...

Scroll up to the red boxes (community rules etc) and under these it will tell you where you are currently in plain text.

    Like this...

Forums / Welcome and orientation / The forum FAQ thread

If you click on the word forums it will take you back to the main screen.

The main screen reads like this...

You will find it helpful to read through the following before posting:

    Community rules

    Forum FAQ

    How the forums are moderated

5 tips for getting the most out of the forums

    Discussing medication

Below these which are in red there are three pale blue tabs which read..

    All posts

    New posts

    My threads

If you click my threads it will take you to a list of every thread you have replied on.

There can be multiple pages to my threads, so be sure to scroll down and click next once you've written on more than 5 or so threads.

Below the three blue tabs on the main screen are a list of sections within the forums in red font. They read...

    Start here:

    Welcome and orientation

    BB Social Zone

    Mental health:

    Suicidal thoughts and self-harm

    Relationship and family issues

    Anxiety

    Depression

    Young people

    Staying well

    Multicultural experiences

Supporting family and friends with a mental health condition (carers)

    Treatments, health professionals and therapies

    PTSD & Trauma

    Sexuality and gender identity

To create a thread click on the section that best fits your concern. If you're not sure that's ok just go to welcome and the moderators will move your thread to the appropriate section later.

When you open a section it will read...

You will find it helpful to read through the following before posting:

Another little Question.. Where do I find my Threads / my posts???

Everything is Soooo confusing here, can't find anything anywhere. At least I found this questionnaires page, but how do find my way back to this page tomorrow... To find your answer to my question?? Can you answer me that? I'm no computer expert, wasn't born a smartphone in my hand.... I'm over sixty, computer been my toy less than 5 years, I haven't got children or grandchildren to teach me. I'm not a comp. Savvy smarthead.. I want get help in these pages, support with my issues, hopefully to help others. But how can I DO IT??? When this whole thing is a HUMANGUS MESS!!!! CAN'T FIND ANYTHING ANYWHERE!!!

Sorry, I'm a bit frustrated, sounding quite demanding.. Yes I'am.. Think, how many other people need this kind of help, who just can't find anything, just like me.. Are they been left in to dark, just because this site is so MESSY at no-one cant find anything anywhere.. Can't even find my own post's... Thank God at I'm so frustrated at a moment and not depressed.

    Hi Lila,

The most recent thread of yours I could fine was this one...

    www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/online-forums/depression/long-way-to-sobriety-from-antidepressants

Is that the one you're looking for?

Any threads you reply on will appear in your my threads tab once you've logged in. Keep in mind my threads can be multiple pages.

If you can't find the thread you're referring to have a check through your emails. If a thread is locked or deleted you are notified by email.

A few weeks ago there was an outage on the forums and a few threads were lost. Chris B made a post asking people to resubmit them. I'll see if I can find it.

You are always welcome here. It does take time to get used to finding your way around the forums. In time you'll find it easier.

Do you have lots of threads? Generally if you create one thread as a space for you to tell your story and ask for help you do tend to get more replies than by having many threads. It can get very hard to follow and understand if your atory is divided up.

I hope that is the right thread you were looking for.

    Hi again Lila,

Hopefully you can find your way back to read this.

I wrote this earlier in this thread about how to find my threads...

The main screen reads like this...

You will find it helpful to read through the following before posting:

    Community rules

    Forum FAQ

    How the forums are moderated

5 tips for getting the most out of the forums

    Discussing medication

Below these which are in red there are three pale blue tabs which read..

    All posts

    New posts

    My threads

If you click my threads it will take you to a list of every thread you have replied on.

I will ask the forum manager Chris if he can add screen shots to help. I understand it can be very frustrating if you aren't entirely comfortable with technology.

    Hope this helps.

Hi Lila, sorry you're so frustrated with navigating the forums.  We have updated the first page of the FAQ to include screenshots directing you to where the My Threads tab is.  The My Threads tab contains all threads you have made yourself, or have posted in.

Below is a copy of the screenshot.  Start by going back to the front page of the forums to find it, at www.beyondblue.org.au/forums

    my-threads
Another way to keep track of threads you're interested in is to use the bookmark function in your browser, you can use this function to keep track of any page on the internet you want to return to later.

Moderators will email you if a thread has to be removed, or your posts edited.

We understand that finding your way around is not going to be easy if you aren't used to technology, and we don't recommend using the forums when you're in a high state of distress and needing immediate support - that's not something we can provide through this channel.  Please call 1300 22 4636 to speak with one of our professional counsellors, who are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Unfortunately we don't have an edit function available yet. Once the new platform's up and running we'll be able to edit our posts. Till then, if you want to remove a post, please contact moderators.

Please only use this as a last resort if your post is offensive or disclosing personal info for instance. There's only one Mod on duty at a time, so they have their work cut out for them. You'll just have to deal with type-o's etc. I'm sorry...

☺ Hi Morgan241191 welcome to BB.

I thought I'd jump in and see if I can be of help, either that or completely confuse you ☺

On page 1 the first post Sophie has explained very well and some extra details too that can be helpful.

Also Quercus 7th post above has also given some helpful info.

    Look out my turn 😆

When you log in if you go to "All posts" you'll see various sections depending which one you want to make a thread on there's a Blue button on the top right for a "new thread".

A suggestion but your choice is to start at "welcome and orientation" being new you'll be amongst other new posters.

Or you might like to go straight to a section. Eg: Depression, anxiety etc

I'm positive 😆 someone else will be clearer but any problems please sing out, here's a fantastic supportive community loaded with lovely people helping eachother.

    All best 👍

    Morgan me again.

    Going to rephrase.

When you log in and go to the forums under the 5 Red buttons about rules etc if you go to "All posts"

Then yardy yar. Hope that's a bit clearer.

Might help assure you, here they're not as vague as me 😆

    Hi Netti,

Sorry about the belated welcome to the forums.

You're welcome to post wherever you like on the forums, just be aware you won't get the same amount of attention as if you created a new thread. DB (Demonblaster) describes the 'how to' in the posts above.

We'd love to hear more about you when you feel able.

Hi Pharry, welcome to the forums.  The best way to say hello and get to know people in the community is to start a new thread - this is a thread for asking questions about how to use the community.  If you're not sure how to start a new thread, scroll back to the very first post in this thread, where step-by-step instructions are provided.

    Hi

I just wanted to know why my thread disappeared. It was posted in December on the self harm forum and got about 50 replies over December/January - "fifty something guy".

I wanted to let people know I'm doing okay.

    Thanks

    Hi Alexander,

We've previously had a system crash that caused some threads to be deleted/unpublished. We have been able to republish your thread 'Don't be afraid to get help: Fifty something mere male' under the Suicidal thoughts and self-harm section under Mental Health Conditions. We apologize for any inconvienience.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Croix!

I wanted to thank you for your wonderful posts when I was really crook. They really helped. A long way to go yet but still breathing.

I did post a thread in the depression forum and dear Birdy replied, another star in my darkest times.

To me moving from the self harm to the depression forum was kind of progress in itself...

I took your advice in fact from back when and tried not to post a "I'm in control" sort of thread.

So Sheba the wonder fox terrier didn't make an appearance but she has been with me throughout. What a doll.
