People with Social Phobia feel anxious and stressed in places where they think they will be observed and often avoid social encounters where they might have to meet or speak to new people. beyondblue awards 22 research grants
|
beyondblue has recently awarded 22 research grants totalling $5 million. |
|
|
Eight projects totalling almost $1.2 million have been funded under the beyondblue Victorian Centre of Excellence (bbVCoE) - a joint initiative of beyondblue and the Victorian Government. |
|
|
Under beyondblue's National Priority Driven Research Program, 14 grants totalling $3.85 million have been awarded to recipients whose research focuses on the priority areas of Adolescents and Young Adults, Perinatal Mental Health, and Older People. Five projects out of the 14 focus on men's mental health and wellbeing and have been allocated $1.2 million, which is funded through support from The Movember Foundation. To read more, click here

SenseAbility, the resilience-building program for young people (12 -18 year olds), was made freely available to all Australian Secondary Schools in December 2010, and over 51 per cent of schools registered for the program. Schools which are using SenseAbility in the classroom have seen positive results in both students and teachers. Kits are now available to order for the 2012 school year. Bowlers dressed in blue to raise awareness of depression and anxiety

beyondblue, Bowls Victoria and Bowls Western Australia recently joined forces to hold a ‘blue’ round of Pennant Bowls. Over 500 Victorian clubs and 69 West Australian clubs were invited to participate in the Blue Pennant round. Bowlers dressed in blue to raise awareness of depression and anxiety. beyondblue will continue to work with Bowls Australia to develop a national partnership with all states and territories in 2012. | FeBLUary: For the fourth year, cricketers across South Australia will raise awareness of depression and anxiety during FeBLUary - an initiative founded by the Southern Districts Cricket Club, supported by the South Australian Cricket Association and beyondblue. On the first weekend in February, cricketers across all men's and women's grades will turn "blue" to raise awareness of depression and anxiety in the sporting community.
