Australia’s Governor-General Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC will serve as Beyond Blue’s Patron, continuing a tradition set by former Governors–General Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO, Sir Peter Cosgrove AK CVO MC and David Hurley AC CVO DSC (Retd).

Beyond Blue Chair Linda Dessau AC CVO said, “On behalf of the Board and staff, I welcome Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC as Patron-in-Chief of Beyond Blue.

“As a business and community leader and former National Mental Health Commissioner and Chair of Beyond Blue, coupled with her unrelenting humanity and commitment to equality, Ms Mostyn has a deep understanding of mental health and wellbeing. We are honoured that Her Excellency will continue to support Beyond Blue’s mission that all people in Australia achieve their best possible mental health.”

Beyond Blue CEO Georgie Harman said, “Beyond Blue has been fortunate to have had successive Governors-General serve as Patron, so we’re delighted that Ms Mostyn has accepted our invitation to take up the position.”

Ms Mostyn joined the Beyond Blue Board in early 2023 and was appointed Chair in on 1 January 2023. She stepped down immediately on being appointed Governor-General, in line with protocol.

Ms Mostyn will serve as Patron alongside another former Beyond Blue Chair, the Honourable Julia Gillard AC, who took over from founder the Honourable Jeff Kennett AC in 2017.

“Ms Mostyn is an effective and passionate advocate for mental health, and we are looking forward to having her support as we continue our efforts making it easier for people to feel better earlier, get well and stay well,” said Ms Harman.
