Areas of focus for the Royal Commission have been:
- Access to services
- Experiences of treatment, care and support
- Family and carer experiences
- Mental health in rural and regional Victoria
- Suicide
The interim report contains a number of priority recommendations that address immediate needs and lay the foundations for a new approach to mental health. This is an important first step.
This is the first of two major reports by the Commission and represents a stock-take of what the Commission has learned so far.
The majority of the Commission’s recommendations for change will appear in its final report, due in October 2020. The final report will present a bold and innovative approach for transforming Victoria’s mental health system.
