Struggling with not doing self harm 😞 this is a coping mechanism I have been dealing with for many years and nye in particular is really difficult as my mum passed away on this night in my mid 20’s and it’s been a hard 10yrs without self harm throughout covid has been particularly bad as my family moved to qld and I am by myself in nsw..

    Hi Jenn.,

Welcome to our friendly online community. We're so sorry to hear that it's been such a difficult night for you. It sounds like your mum was really valuable to you and we understand that being reminded of this loss must be really painful. We're getting in touch with you p[rivately to offer some extra support.

Can we ask if you are currently receiving any mental health support, or have you in the past? If you would like some help finding mental health support, we would recommend that you get in contact with the Beyond Blue Support Service. They are available 24/7 by phone on 1300 22 4636 or on Webchat 3pm-12am AEST on our website:  One of our friendly counsellors will be able to talk through these feelings with you and can offer support, advice and referrals.

You might also be interested in our page "Self harm and self injury" - which provides some ideas for alternatives to self harm that you can try that are less harmful.

We're so glad you reached out here. We hope that our forums can be of some comfort to you.
