Speakers Program

Sharing personal stories of anxiety and depression can have a long-lasting impact on the community. It helps raise awareness, reduce stigma, and encourages people to seek help.

Our speakers are community members who volunteer their time to speak about their personal experience of a mental health condition.

Things you need to know before a speaker event

We aim to meet all requests for speakers. However, due to the high volume of requests we receive, we require a minimum of 30 days' notice.
This allows us time to search for an appropriate and available speaker for your event.

Please note: our volunteer speakers are not staff members, facilitators or clinicians.

Frequently asked questions

Our speakers assist Beyond Blue by sharing their story to groups in the community.

We receive requests from all types of groups and organisations and match them with appropriate speakers to share their story. By doing so, our speakers help raise awareness and reduce stigma of anxiety and depression in communities throughout Australia.

"It's ok to feel sad. It's ok to ask for help about how you're feeling"

Georgie knows that depression has shaped the way she does most things. As she continues to learn, she's hoping that she continues to have a positive impact on those around her.

Read, watch and listen to stories from everyday Australians about the signs and symptoms they experienced, how they got support, and what they do to stay well.
