Those Once, Then and Now books look interesting. Check out "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" its both a movie and a book set in WW2 from a child's point of view, pretty interesting stuff.
I was heaps into WW2 history for decades, starting with my grandfather's experience as a raaf wireless operator and good ol' uncle jocks time as a tanker in egypt. WW2 is a huge field for history reading, I have a whole shelf of ww2 history books, mostly from a military history point of view, rather than any other lens we might use to examine such a huge field.
If you want to try a few sentences/paragraphs on me, either for my suggested edits or just for fun, feel free.
I love writing too. Here's a start on a comic book character I might develop further...
My yet to be named comic book character.
I would be immortal,
perhaps beyond ageing and as old as the universe.
I would be able to
read minds.
I would be an agent
of chaos but inherently peaceful.
I would be entirely
honest.
I feel everyone’s
suffering and pain all the time.
I am able to
shapeshift into dirt or a star.
I have avatars that
represent components of me.
I am both sexless or
with sex.
