The peer work hub encourages organisations to embed person-first, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed approaches in mental health services.
The peer work hub ‘Employer’s guide to implementing a peer workforce’ document explains that:
“As the landscape of mental health and community services in Australia changes to become more person centered, services and organisations must seek an understanding of mental health consumers’ experiences in order to design and develop services that better meet their needs and preferences. “
The hub comprises a suite of information including:
- A Business Case: an outline of the latest Australian and international evidence on how and why mental health, community services and care organisations in NSW would benefit by developing a peer workforce.
- A Toolkit: A resource that addresses the practical elements of peer workforce planning, recruitment, supervision and evaluation.
- Language Guides: Two guides that explain specialist terms often used in the peer work sector.
