Beyond Blue Chairman Jeff Kennett, on behalf of Beyond Blue, was thrilled to receive a cheque for $83,000 from South Australian small businessman, Vince Esposito, and his supporters recently.
Vince, a 33-year-old hardware store owner, cycled a gruelling 800 kilometres from Melbourne to Adelaide in just one week raising the much-needed funds for Beyond Blue.
His ride was also aimed at breaking down stigma associated with depression, anxiety and suicide.
Vince was motivated to support Beyond Blue because he knows first-hand how debilitating mental health conditions can be, having struggled with depression himself.
“I would like to congratulate Vince on two counts: firstly, for raising a sweat on behalf of Beyond Blue and putting in the time and effort to cycle from Melbourne to Adelaide; secondly – and perhaps more importantly – by sharing his personal story of depression to raise awareness and reduce stigma around mental health conditions,” said Mr Kennett.
“Beyond Blue has been working to raise awareness and reduce stigma since 2000, and with the generous help of people like Vince, we are able to continue this important work helping individuals and families affected by depression anxiety and suicide.
“More pedal-power to you Vince.”
