Melbourne's first Safe Haven Cafe has recently opened

29 May 2018

The St. Vincent's Hospital campus at Fitzroy, in partnership with Better Care Victoria, has recently opened Melbourne's first Safe Haven Cafe.

Based on a successful model in the UK, the Safe Haven Cafe provides a safe alternative to the emergency department for adults (over 18 years) experiencing loneliness, personal difficulties, or simply seeking social connection.

The Cafe is open on Fridays from 6pm-8pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm-8pm and is located at 35 Victoria Parade in the Art Gallery, at St. Vincent’s Hospital Fitzroy. Free tea and coffee is provided.

Designed by consumers with a lived experience of mental illness and/or homelessness, and run by lived experience workers, the Cafe is now open for business!
