    Hi Paws and everyone

How did your trip today go Paws? Yes the wait for vaccination is incredible and many people will be due for a booster shot by later this year, and all the vaccines the govt has got in a hurry from overseas have to be paid back in kind! How is this going to go? What a mess!

I HAD to go into Coles today as they are the only place that stocks my lactose free yoghurt - went sort of two oçlock-ish when it was pretty quiet - annoying seeing people not wearing a mask even indoors in the shopping centre - hoping desperately I haven't caught anything - I went in double-masked...

I lovely day here today the Spring blossom is coming out everywhere. The house is freezing still so after a walk by the river (which is flooded again so Sam had a couple of lovely paddles!) we sat in the park in the sunshine and had coffee, which was so nice.

I have to take Sam to the vet tomorrow for his arthritis shot and annual vaccination. I have heard nothing back from the local MP (probably due to covid here) and have to have the lawn mowed Wednesday afternoon, which is another eighty dollars, it's dreadful to pay that much. These men are intimidating and they want cash payment, but I got assertive for once!!! - and told them I didn't want them coming to my door, and I wasn't going to the shops just to get money for them (covid), and they were to leave their banking details in the letter box and I will transfer the money into the account. I've done that a couple of times before. They don't like it, but I don't want them coming near me as they live in the part of town where the virus is very bad, and anyway they are intimidating so I am keeping them away from speaking to me much.

I felt better after actually being firm with them!

Still no guarantee they'll be pleasant on the day so I have to be prepared.

Going to watch the ABC tonight. So pleased they found that little boy who was missing, isn't it nice to hear some happy news!

I hope Woofa wasn't too lonely with you not there.

    Hugs oxoxoxo

    Hello Hanna, wave to all,

If both of us can see the problems there will be with this vaccine swap... surely those in power can see it too?????

Thankfully the big town & the roads were very quiet here... there were very few in Woolies... everyone I saw was wearing their mask... there were a few who weren't wearing it properly... covering their mouth but not their nose...

Well done standing up to the mower men... besides... the unwritten law of cash payments to tradies is they give a big discount as they aren't putting it through their books...this lot definitely aren't giving you any discount.

Yes it is wonderful the little boy was found...

Love Sam having a splash... though not really the weather for it yet... I would think the water would be icy. I hope he will get treats for being a good boy at the vet tomorrow...

    Stay warm... hugs

    Paws

Now I'm really worried because I didn't know the $80 was a discount for paying cash! They'll probably charge me extra money now. But I don't want them coming to the door. What can I do? They said leave the cash in the letterbox but that's not safe anyone could take it.

    Oh dear.

Oh I'm so sorry lass... I didn't mean you to think the $80 was discounted... I meant the $80 is full charge & they would need to give you a big discount below that if they want cash... please don't worry they will charge more if you don't pay cash... that's not going to happen.

They charge me eighty dollars in cash Paws. So what will they charge me for doing on online banking? I don't understand sorry. These men can be intimidating. I don't know how to deal with them on my own if they get nasty about the cost and the lawn is getting long.

They've always charged me $80 cash payment. So now I'm confused Paws if this was a cash discount?

Firstly & most importantly - Don't worry they won't charge you more for paying into their bank account...

They have not been giving you a discount if they are charging you $80.... a discount for cash would be charging you about $40

I'm so sorry I've worried you like this

    Hi paws

No this is a quarter acre block so the usual price is more than 80 dollars. Don't worry I put a note in a neighbours letterbox who I know has a ride on mower which has to be used and she has kindly rung me and offered to mow it for me tomorrow afternoon thank goodness for someone helping me!

You were probably thinking this is a small yard but it's huge.

Took. Sam to vet for yearly vaccination. Lovely day had nice river walk.

Hope all is well there! Hugs 😷🧚‍♂️🐳🌿

    Hi paws and everyone

My nice neighbour across the road came with her ride on and mowed the lawn and said she'll come back with a whipper-snapper for the rest. I think she's only doing it this once because she has a week off work but it all helps!

Too warm for me here today. Huge queues at the vaccination hub they have opened up here which is good to see.

Trying for a zoom lesson tomorrow but very unsure it will work.

How is everyone going? Hugs to all 😊💕🌼🌿

The news/politicians are talking as if opening up everything at 70% vaccinated is going to be wonderful - but huge numbers of people will still get very sick/due. Also the hospital staff have to cope.

It bothers me the way they're making it sound so wonderful. It won't be for a lot of people!

    Hello Hanna, and everyone...🤗

That was nice of your neighbour to mow the lawn for you...I am pleased she done that for you....

I agree with you..I still think it’s too early..I seen on our local news that once the lockdowns are finished, our regions are welcoming visitors from Sydney and other states....This will cause more illnesses with COVID etc..

I am not looking forward to when lockdowns finishes...It is making me more anxious then lockdown did....

I hope all the fur babies here are doing well, playing and running around....as well as all you beautiful people here..

Hugs both fur and human ones..🤗😂..

    Much love ladies..

    Hello Hanna, wave to everyone,

That was so nice of your neighbour to do that for you...

I managed to get a booking for my second jab...yay... not until the 28th but it is at the nearer big town rather than the town where I got my first jab... so that will save me an hours travel time.

It felt very warm here too... even Woofa gave up laying in the sun... tomorrow is meant to be warmer... yuck.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one thinking they are rushing this easing restrictions... it must be more worrying for you both in NSW as the virus is in the regions there...

Hanna I will keep fingers & paws crossed that your zoom lesson goes well for you tomorrow.

    Hi Grandy!

Yes it makes me anxious too feeling like I'm going to have to be so careful. Friends in America tell me they don't do very much at all even fully vaccinated - they wear masks to outdoor cafes but avoid enclosed places and crowds as much as possible still.

It was so warm today I worry about a hot summer. I like the cooler weather!

My neighbour is very nice I don't usually see much of her as she works shifts. It's nice to have someone else in the street I know to speak to now!

I'm loving my little tablet I listen to music and watch video talks. I'd like to buy a bigger one it's so handy to be able to use it anywhere I'm sitting unlike the laptop.

There's a lovely video called The Miracle Dog on a utube channel called Green Renaissance. Do watch it if you can it's lovely about this man and his dog.

    Hi. Paws and everyone

We'll zoom worked on the tablet until it froze in the last few minutes. Hooray at least we got a lesson done!!

It's concerning the way the press and politicians go on about all the great things we can do when we open up but don't talk about the people who will get very sick/die.

Very good article in the Sydney morning herald the other day by a doctor who said how much he cared for his sons girlfriend. In her early 20s she had a degree and now wants to study medicine. She has very brittle diabetes and is therefore at huge risk of covid.

He said if she died she would simply be reported as someone who "had underlying health issues" and said saying this about people makes it sound like it was their fault and anyway they're more expendable.

I thought he had a very good point.

The taliban have decided women can't play sports that expose themselves like cricket.

Why is it always women who have to cover up?

Anyway a busy day here and we think we'll be in lockdown until mid October at least.

    Hope all is well 🐕🌿🌼🎶🧚‍♂️🦠

    Hello Hanna,

I so agree with you the way people with underlying issues or the over 75s are being spoken about as expendable... I also find the expressions of condolence sound utterly hollow & sounding as if they are simply said by rote...

The situation in Afghanistan for the women & girls is heart breaking... all the public statements by the taliban about how they are more women friendly than 20 years ago aren't being matched on the ground.

That is great news that you managed to have your zoom lesson... I hope G was more comfortable that way than talking on the phone... might you use it to chat between lesson appointments?

Showery here today though it was still mild when we got up this morning... the rain is just beginning to set in & the temperature to drop... I can see Woofa wanting his coat on soon.

Hugs for you & ear rubs for Sam

    Hi Paws and everyone

So hot here today I fear we are in for a bad summer. I so don't like the heat! Nor does Sam. Cooler change forecast for the next couple of days thank goodness. The hot wind has sadly spoilt the spring blossoms that were just starting up. What a shame.

Yes women in afghanistan can't play cricket! It's all about power isn't it.

G doesn't like Zoom and I absolutely hated it! It also sent Sam into a frenzy as he couldn't understand where G's voice was coming from!

Iike the colder weather and am going to find the lockdown harder in the hotter days as it's less easy for us to go out and walk.. I desperately need some clothes for the warmer weather but of course the shops are closed!

Am finding some great talks on my tablet and some great music videos.

Otherwise no news. Did some laundry and some cooking!

Now out enjoying the cooler breeze!

    🙂🌼🌿🧚‍♂️🦚🐾🐶

    Hello Hanna, wave to everyone,

I've never tried zoom or skype... but I don't think I would like it... well at least you both tried it & now you can cross it off as a way to continue lessons...

I do worry about how long you will be locked down there... seeing the crowds on Bondi without masks left me shaking my head in disbelief... it must be so frustrating having so many flouting rules...

The state gov here promised more money for social housing last election.... what a shock the money is actually being spent!!! with over 2300 homes being built by the end of next year... the homes will even be energy efficient... building work is starting this coming week on the first sites chosen... this is just the first stage... I'm keeping everything crossed further stages do happen as Vic has the lowest level of social housing in Australia.

How strange Sam reacting to G's voice... I would have thought a dog would just react to zoom just as it does to tv... I wonder what the difference is that he could hear?

Very wintery here today.. the wind is straight off the south pole...

    Hugs

    Hi paws and everyone

Wow it turned cold and rainy here today! I like it much better than the heat and we had a couple of great long walks.

I'm trying to find a groomer for Sam but most of them are closed or booked out. Looks like will be locked down for weeks and we can't get to the next town.

    It's pretty dreary.

Good to hear about the housing but I think more is needed and I hope they design it well.

Not much news. The days run together a bit lately! I do miss being able to get to the library.

    Take care everyone 😷🐶🎶🌿🧚‍♂️🐦🦜🐳

Hi Hannah 🐶 and your lovely friends too including readers 👋

Dear Hannah I finally got here. I've felt guilty but have read on occasion here and just read back on this page.

You're always so lovely I enjoy reading your posts. I like your conversation skills and you have a very nice cheerful disposition nice lady.

I saw you had a few lovelies here was one reason I've been slack and my marbles go into partee mode so often it's hard posting anywhere. So I hope you haven't taken to heart my absense. Truth not at all personal. Opposite ☺

Well done being assertive with the mower blokes doesn't sound good if your feeling intimidated. I wonder is there anyone else that does it. Pretty exy isnt it geez $80. Loven the neighbour doing it. Must be a big load off having that out the way for a while.

Ditto I don't like the heat even in NZ in Auckland it gets wicked humid with lower temps but equivalent to humid 34 ish here.

Great the zoom worked out for you.

A thought which could potentially save some doosh how do you think you'd go giving your dear fur a groom.

It's pretty much the norm here to have many gorgeous sunny days. Love light it gives a free feeling and lifting. Though if we don't have to go out in the rain that can be nice and cosy too. On saying not going out in it I'd love to walk in it with the drops on my hair and face. Want one day to do this in memory of a very loved sister in law (sil) who wanted to as well. We lost her very sadly the same yr my late love too. That is dressed warmly though.

Ok lovelies hope everyone had at least one plus in their days to remember in hard times.

Take care oh and kept forgetting to say stoked you have emojis now, Love em Great aren't they 😀🐶🌴🌞 leaving you some cheery sun

Hi Deebi and Paws Grandy Katy everyone

That was nice of you to post here Deebi! I don't know which/where your thread is I'm sorry!

AA nice day here today but the days are all much the same in lockdown. I miss going to the library and having a chat with the staff there. Town is very quiet and empty.

The lawn is growing already. I have someone from the Salvos ringing me tomorrow to give me some help with the electricity bill.

I can't clip Sam myself and the groomers here are either closed or fully booked. In Melbourne I think they've just allowed dog groomers to return to work because as it gets warmer it becomes an animal welfare issue.

I'm listening to some great podcasts on my tablet and still practising harp a bit as well as guitar. Good for my brain!!!

I don't know what state you are in Deebi? Are you on the coast?

Today was rather lonely. The pandemic means nobody is able to do much. Still cases every day here. My second AZ jab is next week I'll be relieved!

What family do you have Deebi? Do you have any good friends where you are?

Paws, Grandy, Katy how are you all?

Sam is in his jumper and fast asleep on the couch next to me with a full tummy after dinner!

I am off to get mine. Cooked a chicken and mushroom casserole the other day.

Lovely to have you here Deebi! The forums seem rather quiet lately.

    Waves to everyone 🙂🎶🌼😷🐦🌷💖🐕🐚🦚🦓🐥

    Hello Hanna,

I haven't been following the NSW roadmap out of lockdown... do you have any idea what things you will be able to do after you get your second jab?... When I think of everything you have been hit with since moving there, you wont know yourself when you are able to do all the things you have been wanting to do... I think it's meant to be a mild summer this year so fingers crossed you will have a win with good weather plus no covid restrictions.

My second jab is in a fortnight... but we won't hear our roadmap details until next Sunday & I expect it won't change much before November as our lot are very very cautious... I'm trying not to get my hopes up that I might be able to visit my elderly relative later this year, but that is on the top of my wish list.

Chilly here tonight... I've just put the heater on & Woofa is snoozing under it. I chatted online with a cousin yesterday... she is hoping to get a Great Dane puppy & wanted support convincing her hubby it would be a good idea... what could I say other than Danes are wonderful... especially with one snuggled up to me at the time...

I hope you & Sam managed some time in the park today

    Hugs & pats

Hello Hanna, Paws, Deebi, Katey and all..

We are also having cases in the town I shop at..it’s really hit home how scary it is when it’s so close now...

I had a Drs. Appointment to set up some psycho for my hip/groin/leg...which will be my first physio tomorrow at the local hospital...which is only really a stop over/ treatment hospital for patients who need to go to the bigger hospital...

I was in my car about to leave the Drs medical centre, when my Dr stopped me..she wanted me to have the 2nd jab...I said I’ll wait for the 12 week gap...she explained as its in the town I’d be better of having it now...so I did...Which means now I’m fully vaccinated....I would have preferred waiting..though...

Its hard to groom our own dogs..I do mine, unfortunately they look like they had a very bad haircut.😂😂..at least they are cooler now..My furs don’t like the heat...neither do I..

Hanna..I’m sorry you felt lonely...I miss me supporter visits..It’s been over a month since I’ve seen her...Trying to keep busy every day is hard when living on our own....What are you doing to keep busy?..

Paws..I was watching some YouTube vids on Great Danes..they we funny and so cute....I am thinking of maybe I’ll get a rescue dog... a large dog..one that won’t jump my fence...Just thinking about it at this time...I will need to try to save some $’s first....

Its been cold here the past few days..it’s sunny yet cold..

Love, hugs and pats to you all..

    Hi Grandy

Nice to hear from you! I am waiting on a call from someone. I'm having a bad pain day I got exhausted yesterday trying to talk with an elderly friend in the city who has dementia and I got over tired.

I get my second shot next Tuesday and it take 2 weeks after that to have full effect.

I will post more later if I feel OK.or else tomorrow. Hugs from us here 🐕💖💕

    Hi Grandy Paws everyone

Gosh I've been tired lately it must be a lockdown side effect!

Grandy I'm afraid I lost my patience with the elderly friend with dementia the other day. She is the one who used to demand I phone her every day at set times. She is incredibly demanding.

I've known her for ages but she is very argumentative and the other day she exhausted me so much I had to go and lie down afterwards!

I cancelled music today as I don't like Zoom and will goback when this lockdown ends.

I have my second AZ early next week hooray! Then 2 weeks to get full benefit.

One of the vet nurses here said she can clip Sam if he gets too hot she said he won't look nice as she is not a groomer but he will be cooler! She is going to ring me back.

G and I are swapping podcasts and talks on utube. I picnic outdoors with Sam and we usually get chatting with people outside with masks on.

I also practice harp and guitar at home.

    How is everyone else going?

    Hugs to all 🙂🐦🐕🌷🐥🐳😷🎶

Hello Hanna, Grandy, wave to everyone,

It's lovely to hear that you & G are still managing to keep in touch despite the interruption to your music lessons...

I chuckled when I read on Katy's thread you saying how he barely talked at first & now you can't stop him... though I do think it is wonderful what a difference you have made to his life by simply giving him a safe space with you.

I hope Sam can be clipped by the vet nurse... you can always put his coats on whenever a cold front comes through... having thick fur must be so very uncomfortable with the warmer weather... has he been cooling off in the river on your park outings?

    Hugs

    Hi paws and everyone

Sam was very happy this morning as it was a lovely day and he had multiple happy splashes in the river!

Yes I was thinking the other day that I've now been talking with G for a year and he's gone from barely able to get a few words out to talking for hours! I just hope it gives him some more confidence with others as well but I don't know.

I am trying to work out what to do about friends who text me but never phone.

The sight loss in my right eye gets steadily worse and I become very tired. I've googled this and fatigue due to the loss of depth perception is well known. My physiotherapist here said that was why I get so tired now.

Just attaching Sam's lead to his collar takes multiple attempts. I hit myself in the face often when I open the door as I don't see where it is. I've cut back bushes near the driveway as I can't see if they're going to poke me in the eye or face.

I find typing on the phone like this exhausting and I have asked friends who always text me to please ring me instead so I don't have to type text replies.

Unfortunately they either keep texting or stop contact altogether.

Why is it so hard to phone rather than text someone with sight issues?

How can I get this through to people?

I explain it's great to hear from them and that I'd love them to ring sometime as texting takes a lot of concentration and is very tiring for me.

    They still text!!!!!!

Maybe I'm going to have to ring back with a message that I simply can't respond via text?

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Cheers everyone 😷🎶🐥🐳🐕🐚🌿

    Hello Hanna,

When people text me I tend to just ring them back... I don't have your sight problem but I find carrying on a conversation by text message irritating... Some people still text me despite me saying I don't like it so I still just ring them back... text messages have their place but carrying on a conversation is not it.

I've had a very quiet day here after everything yesterday... the flat pack is still on the floor waiting for me to finish it... but I think if I was to sit on the floor today I would struggle to get back up.

Very cold & wet today... the forecast is for even colder tomorrow... I hope you are still enjoying some nice spring weather & have managed to get out & about.

    Hugs
