What is the Self-Care Check?

Sometimes you might know you’re not taking care of yourself as well as you’d like, but it’s hard to pinpoint what you really need.

The Self-Care Check is a quick and simple self-assessment tool designed to give you clarity and confidence in how to strengthen your wellbeing.

In just a few minutes, you’ll see how you’re doing across four self-care action areas: Lifestyle, Mindset, Connection, and Direction. You’ll then get personalised tips to help you keep building your mental wellbeing through simple self-care ideas and practices.

Lifestyle - How well my daily habits look after me

Habits that support your overall health (nutrition, sleep, physical activity, work-life balance).

Mindset – How helpful my thoughts are

Your self-talk and how you interpret situations in healthy, balanced ways that support your personal growth.

Connection - How supported and connected I feel

The strength of the relationships you have with others, your community, nature and culture.

Direction – How meaningful my days are

Your sense of purpose and direction, goals, and contribution to your community.

How it works: explore the areas that shape your wellbeing

  • Answer a few questions – it only takes about 3-5 minutes
  • Get your scores for each action area
  • Receive tailored feedback based on your results
  • Apply insights to your daily life
This tool helps you to think about the areas you’re doing well in, and where you might improve how you’re looking after yourself. Your results will pinpoint which new actions might boost your mental wellbeing.

Understanding your scores

Your scores offer general guidance only, based on your own responses to how you’re looking after yourself in each area. They’re a snapshot of your current habits. As life changes, so will your scores.

The Self-Care Check is not a clinical tool, but a simple way to help you pause and reflect about how you might be able to better support your mental wellbeing. If using this tool brings up any difficult thoughts or feelings, or you’d like support for your mental health, we encourage you to reach out for help.

"I felt like I’d been believed for the first time... it was really refreshing to have that support from someone, especially an actual professional.

It was nice to finally feel like I wasn’t alone."
